Thank you for honoring Quincy as the Diary of the Day today! We appreciate all the gifts, rosettes, stars, comments, pawmails, and friend requests that we've been receiving from both our Dogster and Catster friends.

I had mentioned previously I would write about some of our memories about Quincy but that won't happen today.

On Monday I took a walk around the neighborhood with Quincy's collar in my pocket. I had not been out of the house for a few days and I'm off this week and Harvey is working.

Some mementos have been ordered, including something for the garden to honor Quincy and Cosmo. We made a donation to the National Canine Cancer Foundation and Quincy's photo is now in their memorial gallery. We were fortunate enough to be able to afford Quincy's treatment but we know not everyone can, so we made a donation in Quincy's memory for one of the dogs needing help through the Magic Bullet Fund. I know there are other organizations like theirs, so I'll be looking into those and/or returning to theirs. We already donate regularly to a couple of other animal organizations.

I had to do some last minute Christmas shopping yesterday so drove to one of the animal shelters afterwards in the area and looked at the dogs and cats. Riley and Caileigh, there was a handsome black and white pup there named Julian, listed as a Pointer, 1 year, 2 months old, who was so well behaved yet curious. They didn't even post his picture on their website and I doubt he'll be there very long.

There are no immediate plans to adopt another dog or two until we know we are fully ready. While Quincy would have been a wonderful role model, we didn't want to bring in another dog after we lost Cosmo so that we could devote our love and time to him. We are so glad we made that choice.

We have loving indoor cats, another huge thing to consider when bringing in a new dog into our family. A few of them have been sniffing around the dog bed and toys, which will remain intact in the house.

I'm not sure if there will be another diary entry before Christmas, so we want to send our sincere wishes to all of you for a joyous holiday season.

Janet and Harvey, I know what a hard week this is for you, I think of you often. How strong of you to visit the shelter! You will know when it's time...it could be weeks, months or years but only when you are ready.
What a wonderful thing you did by your donations! This world is a better place by having people like you guys!
Have a good Christmas and a safe New Year. It's good to hear from you, thanks for keeping in contact with us all, I know how hard it must be!

Hi Janet,

That is so wonderful to honour Quincy by making donations. Helping other dogs in need is very special.

When the time is right, and you and Harvey will know when that is, a wonderful pup will find their way into your heart. Quincy, Cosmo and Butch will help guide you to that special pup.

During the holidays, Quincy will find ways to let you know that he is okay. That he's watching over you, with you and loving you. We all look forward to reading your stories, when you're ready, they will flow and help you heal. At least, that's what has really helped me.

I hope that Pointer finds a home before Christmas. I wish that for many pups.

My thoughts are with you this holiday season.

Congrats on DOTD, Quincy! We miss you!
Janet and Harvey, Quincy was very lucky to have you. If every doggy and kitty in the shelters or on the streets had a fraction of the love you gave to Quincy, the world would be a better place for all cats and dogs.
Quincy will never be forgotten, and when you are ready to open your hearts to another dog or two, they will be very blessed to have arrived in such a wonderful family of humans and kitties.

Congrats Quincy! a perfect way to honor a special friend and family member! We know Quincy is proud of his Mom and Dad for making donations in his honor!

Not everyone can do that our Mom does that too and she helps pet organizations too, she knows it helps her and we are sure it help you are well...

Quincy will always be in our hearts and we love him always...take your time that you need to mourn and heal, one day when the time is right Quincy will let you know that there is another fur baby out there they needs you for it Mom and Dad...

we are so sorry to hear the news of quincy's passing, we have no phone or internet right now, we are pirating some signal from a neighbor.

your boy was so loved by you, your husband and the kitties, i know you are all missing him so much.

we are sending cans of unsalted green beans up to the bridge so quincy can share them with all is new friends.
