ANNOYED

Well friends, I'm annoyed at my mom! She missed the email that said I was a featured Diary on Dogster until today! Dang. Thanks for all your support! And mom, love you but you know I'm a princess and like my adoring court time! (Sorry Dear!)

But, to move on, we are finally having warmer weather! The backyard is a mess though. I don't like getting my paws wet and I have to step very carefully to get to my poo spot. EEyuuu. I can't wait until it all dries up! The front deck is great though. We haven't been out there all winter until this week. I LOVE watching the people and dogs go by. My stupid brother barks his head off at EVERYTHING. But then, he's the Princess Protector you know!

Well, I have a nap to take and some petting to rustle up, so everyone have a wonderful weekend! I'm going to have fun sitting in the sun!

Love, Leda

Thanks!

Oh my dogness! Look at all the pretty presents I got! Thank you soooo much for remembering me! Mom is so busy all the time now that she doesn't get on dogster much anymore, but we do still love our friends here!

We spent the day listening to dad on the roof chopping up ice and mom working on boxes in the house. Well, mom got up early and put on pretty clothes and went to church with Grammy, but dad stayed home and so did we! We don't have any pretty flowers growing yet and the ground hasn't shown up because the snow is still there, so no digging yet! Sigh. But it's lighter and lighter earlier and earlier every day. We know it's coming!

Well, thanks again friends! Hope you had a wonderful Easter and will have a great spring and summer! Love, Leda

I'm almost six years old and have managed to stay at this home for five years! My mom and dad never gave up on me even when I was so anxious I ate walls. I don't do that anymore. It took over a year, but I got better. People with new pets, please take heed! Love works miracles!

This last year I got an injury when K and I were playing. My skin got ripped and I had to have stitches! I had a big cone on my head and I hated it so much that I tore up my crate again. Dad was really mad, but he understood, too. He said he wouldn't want one of those things on his head either. I LOVE dad so much! I love mom too, but she was the one that took me to the vet, you know. So anyway, we finally worked it out and I got my stitches out and there isn't even a scar so it's all good. K got really freaked out when mom left him here and I got to go in the car..hahahahha!

Well, mom doesn't get on here much anymore, but really, her job is petting me anyway. I lie down beside her every minute I can just to make it easier for her! And dad too. Well, have a wonderful year everyone! Love, Leda.

AND--I'm five today! It's been a great year of chasing birds in the yard, chasing my brother Kierke in the yard, and chasing my mom in the yard! DOG-tastic! I am taller and heavier than in my picture, but I'm still very sweet mom says. And dad says I'm just as sneaky but also just as loving and loyal! Kierke says--well, never mind.

We, K and I, had an adventure last summer. Dad forgot to close the gate and mom didn't know it was open, so we made a break for it! We ran through the neighborhood, crossed the highway, and ran up the hill, into the brush, and circled around for 4 hours! Finally we got tired, K was REALLY tired, and started for home. Halfway down that big, big hill, a couple of ladies saw us walking in the middle of the road and stopped to give us a ride! They looked at our tags and called mom on her cell while she was out driving around looking for us. She called dad, who was in HIS car trying to find us. They were totally where we'd ALREADY been! They were happy to see us and thanked the ladies. Don't see what all the fuss was about...K says he isn't going that far again. Mom says NO way, NEVER again! K took a long, long nap...Anyway, we saw all kinds of stuff and loved being outside that FENCE. Mom says we're going for a walk today because it has warmed up a little, but it will be on the leash. Rats! BUT- I will get a few treats! Yay!

So that's the news. Happy New Year! Love, Leda

Thanks!

Wow, I LOVE the presents! Thank you all my good friends. I've been doing ok, although I had a relapse in my anxiety problem. I'm better but you know, when mom leaves, I freak. How will I know she'll find her way back? But then, she remembers our treats and stuff. Anyway, having you guys out there to cheer me up is great. Right now we've got a lot of snow, although today is sunny. I guess we're going into spring. I can't wait to be outside all the time! Anyway, hope all of you have a great spring too. Love, Leda

Subject: Maybe this can be hung on your cage or at a local shelter :) Sent: Tue Nov 18

Message:
I rescued a human today.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering
apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew
I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she
wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident
I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't
been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and
I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

This came as a pawmail from my friend Sunny Lee--I know what this means...

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about
my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make
a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made
little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head
up against the bars to comfort her.

Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for
companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to
assure her that all would be well.

Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I
instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I
would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do
everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her
eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many
more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to
be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.

Happy T-Day!

WEll, we got BIG bones but NO Turkey. Everytime mom has someone over really delicious smells drift out of hte kitchen but the food always goes away before we get any! Somethings is starting to smell fishy! Of course, I do actually like fish, but you know what I mean!

Well summer is here and gone and with it the rain. Now we get to play and run in the snow, but it gets kinda cold. Still not super cold but it's been to about -15. We stay in the house mostly now. We have nice kennels with soft beds mom fixes for us and bones and treats and dinner. And we get petted and we bark at other dogs sometimes when get on the deck. K is always doing that--I'd rather be friends!

Anyway, I've grown and I'm all big and I don't tear things up anymore. I believe mom and dad aren't going away. They say they have taken me off the adoption list. I'm glad because except for K always wanting to have BOTH my bone AND his, I'm pretty happy. Thanks for my home. And mom says thanks for me. Thank you God and friends for everything! Happy Day to all--Love, Leda

Rain, rain

August 10, 2008

Here is a message I sent to my bud Takoda. Thought everyone might want to know what's going on around here....

Now, everyone knows I hate getting wet. I am a DESERT dog...so what happens this summer? Almost NO sun! Just about every day we've had rain, rain, and even more RAIN! Forty years ago it flooded in Fairbanks (my mom was just a kid then) and because of that, a flood control system was built. We actually had to use it this year and still some people living near the rivers got flooded out. Mom says that's their fault for living on the riverbanks. Well, I don't know about that but I do know that our yard is yuck. We still play in it because what can a pup do? You gotta play! But mom shakes her head at all the dirt we've brought in...

We got in a lot of trouble because we broke branches on my mom's honeysuckle tree and flattened part of an iris that grows beneath it. And then K started chewing on one of the irises. But you know, when you are chasing at high speed, a space between trees is sooo fun!

The flowers and tomatoes have, like, just not grown. The lilies should have bloomed a month ago and they just opened. And its cold. Feels like late fall already. We heard geese yesterday so the migration south has started. NO ONE wants to hear that...My mom is scared that it will either be really cold like minus way-down-there or get very wet and have too much snow and ice. In any case, she's ready to brave volcanoes and island fever to move to Hawaii!

One thing is good--the lawn is very, very green. Of course, we managed to mess that up for mom by digging holes to China. That's what dad says. What is China? Dad says we'd better be careful because the govt doesn't always like dogs there and right now we might have to do leaps or something for medals if we pop up in the wrong place...That dad. What a kidder...

Last night we had a birthday party here for our human grandniece and grandnephews. Were we invited to have cake and ice cream? NO! We had to stay in the back yard (it was wet) and bark when they left. We wanted to say hello and snuggle and play with transformers too. But noooooo! Just because we had wet paws and like to sit in people's laps...

Well, we had a long night of sleeping, then an exercise break, then breakfast, then water and now it's time to go back to sleep. Tomorrow when mom goes back to work we have to stay in our kennels and chew bones. Today is laze-around day. Well, we could probably be convinced to chew some bones. I had to put my butt right in mom's face to get a good scratching this morning. K always hogs petting time...

Well, hope everyone is having a good week where you are. We are pretty happy. Take care everyone. Love, Leda--Egyptian Princess exiled to aWater World...

Spring Springs

Boing, Boing--I am a kangaroo dog, my mom says. I stood for many seconds on my hind legs trying to see a cat that I SMELLED at the vacation place. But no one would let me run that way---I had to go to the kennels and visit other dogs and play with K for three days! I jumped a lot...

We went to the vet and got our shots. I think there were cats there too. And a dog with bandages on his foot and a collar around his neck came in. He kind of scared me and I woofed a little (K woofed a lot, of course). MOm said hush because the dog was hurt. I thought he was dressed up. But he didn't look very happy. Anyway, we got our teeth and eyes and ears and our --ahems-- looked at and we are healthy. And we got treats, too!

And guess what! Dad found my tags when the snow melted! I had lost a couple of them and then they showed up. And now I have my new rabies tag, too. I LOVE necklaces! If K would just stop pulling on them...

Do you like dry dog food? I really, really don't. Mom sometimes puts canned food over it, but it's just really too gross. Of course, if it's salmon, I'll eat it. Anyone else like Fromm's? I'd like to try something new. Any suggestions? Mom is concerned that our food be people grade and not all grain and stuff.

Mom's flowers are coming up. They look good to eat, I think. But k says no. I don't get it. He pees on them...

Well, pups, better go. The sun has dropped down, but 17 hours of daylight today! WE LOVE SUMMER! No leaves yet though...Take care everyone and happy spring! Leda

Snain or Row?

Well dogsters, I'm sorry that every time I feel like writing there's this wet stuff mucking up my world! Finally we got snow and K and I have pack it down really good so that, as mom says, there won't be much grass in the spring. Leaping Leda! I love snow! I'm almost like a skiier--I love to charge ahead and then stop on a dime with just a little spray. Or none! I stopped then hopped straight up and turned the other way in midair and came down in the opposite direction yesterday. Mom couldn't believe I did that. Then I jumped over K just to bug him. I have to do that because he tries to steal my food, steal my bone, and chew me. But mom says no to him so I'm still a beautiful ballerina canine, as you can see.

Actually I'm really very shy and sweet. I love being petted and sitting next to mom and dad and licking them all the time. I lick them so much they sometimes make me lie down by myself. Then K puts up his nose at me and so I have to bug him...

Anyway, to get back to my original point, it's November and it's raining! It's misting outside...I'm so tired of rain! It's just not winter here with rain...But at least I've gotten lots of Yummie Chummies for being a good girl and pooing when I'm supposed to and then eating my dinner. I LOVE Yummie Chummies! Well I've gotta go see if I can get some pets. Happy November pups!
