Arrival Story:
The first time I saw a corgi, I knew I had to have one. After a few years of reseraching the breed, and looking through breeders, I finally came across one that I couldn't pass up. The breeder and I e-mailed back and forth for a few weeks. She kept me updated and sent photos as he grew. After hours of driving, I finally picked him up on July 20, 2005

Some people mistake corgis as being timid little lap dogs - don't let their short stature fool you. Spunky is everything a corgi was bred to be.. rough, energetic, and persistent. He was already named "Spunky" when we bought him, and trust me, there were no need for revisions. I think they hit the nail on the head when they named this one

My Diary

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene hit the east cost pretty hard this past weekend. We were out of water and electric for two days, but luckily, my family saw no major flooding or damage. I know many folks were not as fortunate as us. I work at a pet resort/boarding facility; seeing the heartbreak in each owner's eyes was devastating. Of course, they were in good hands with us, but I can't imagine the feeling of evacuating my property, and on top of that, not being able to take my babies with me! I'll continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers, I hope the rest of you will do the same

A Dog Sits Waiting
"A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun
Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run

He's been here for days now with nothing to do
But sit by the road waiting for you

He can't understand why you left him that day
He thought you and he were stopping to play

He's sure you'll come back, and that's why he stays
How long will he suffer? How many days?

His legs have grown weak, his throat's parched dry
He's sick now from hunger and falls, with a sigh

He lays down his head and closes his eyes
I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies"

"You can't buy loyalty, so they say
I bought it though, just the other day
You can't buy friendship, tried and true
Well just the same, I bought that too
I made my bid, and on the spot
Bought love and faith, and a whole lot
So all in all, the purchase price was pretty small
I bought a single trusting heart
That gave devotion from the start
If you think these things are not for sale
Buy a brown-eyed puppy
With a stump for a tail"
