Shakespeare on the Green

Tonight we went to Shakespeare on the Green. An outdoor performance put on at UNO. Tonight was Macbeth. They had a dog contest and I won tallest dog. I bet anyone with an Ibizan can guess the amt of times I was asked if I was an Irish Wolfhound. How annoying,

My first injury

I was playing in the backyard on Saturday and stepped on something. Mom says she thinks it was a stick since it was raining and windy a few small branches fell off the trees. My girl came to bring me inside from a potty break and I was sitting at the door waiting holding my paw. She got mom and mom washed off the blood and noticed a wound, so she shaved out and soaked it in a bucket for a bit. Then she put antibotic cream and wrapped it so I'd leave it alone. In the morning it was still sore, she talked to a vet who said to keep soaking it and wrapping it and bring me in on Mon if not better.

On Mon I went to the vet and he said it was infected so he gave mom a bag of medicine and gave me a shot for pain and one for antibotics. It's doing much better, but everytime I go outside mom makes me stick my foot in a bucket and wash it out. I'm not thrilled it but I'm glad my foot feels better.

Griff's school adventure

I was asked by my children's school to give a grooming speech to a 2nd/3rd grade elective class. The teacher asked me to bring Griffin because she had seen his picture.

Griff had a ball, all the kids wanted to pet him and scratch his rear to make him dance. They were impressed by asking him to sit and down and having him respond to them. We went outside and showed them how show dogs walk in the ring and respond to obedience commands. The kids didn't want him to leave.

Today all the kids wrote Thank you notes to me for bringing Griff. Almost all of them begged to bring him back. The art teacher even told me she'd allow him in the art room after school every now and then to visit. Some of the kids want to be pen pals with Griff as well.

I was so excited about how well Griff did and how many kids weren't even scared of him despite when we first walked in and they saw how big he was.

Some kids drew pictures for Griff and one kid drew a ribbon that he wanted him to wear so everyone knew how special he was. The art teacher has hung pictures of Griff in the art room.

The art teacher has a greyhound and says she thinks her next dog has to an Ibizan. She says she's going to start researching the breed. A bunch of teachers all came filing into the art room asking a ton of questions about the breed and raving about how well behaved Griff is. We both had a ton of fun so I thought I'd share our experience.
