Arrival Story: Oscar has been running amok in the neighborhood of one of our volunteers for months. He was returned to the 'owner' on different occasions, but still kept getting out. The last time the 'owner' did not claim him, so now we have him. And I am glad we do... Bio: Oscar was covered in fleas (which he is allergic too, but is fine if he stays on a flea preventative) and is heartworm positive. The dumb 'owner' doesn't deserve to have this sweet boy back!!
Oscar (I named him that because he reminds me of an orange 'Oscar-the-Grouch') is a total sweetheart. He will give you puppy kisses if you ask, and all he wants is a little love and attention. From the way he acted when I brought him into my house, I doubt he has ever been indoors. He was totally bewildered by the experience of being inside a home. Now, he is crate trained and almost completely house trained. If I let him out of his crate first thing in the am and don't take him straight to the yard to pee he will have an accident. Other than that he is doing really well learning his house manners.
Oscar gets along with all the other dogs and seems ok with our neighborhood cats.
UPDATE:
Oscar started heartworm treatment 2/14/07! He went thru Heartworm Treatment #2 3/30/07 and is now ready for a forever home. Oscar will go home with heartworm preventative that will last until June when he is due for a recheck. I've Been On Dogster Since:
