The vet has me figured out. Yesterday I got my shots, check-up, and nails clipped. As soon as I walked in the vet said "it's the magic glass-eating dog!" And Mom filled him in on my cantaloupe experience. He looked at me and said, "you WANT me to do surgery, don't you?!"

Well, shucks. He got me.

a cantaloupe

I ate a cantaloupe. I was bored and there was this cantaloupe on the kitchen counter. I've never had cantaloupe before, so I gave it a try. I rolled it onto the floor and started chewing.

It wasn't very good. It wasn't worth all the effort, that's for sure. So I only ate about half. And then in the middle of the night, I got really sick and vomited cantaloupe seeds all over the rug by the kitchen door. D'oh.

No more cantaloupe for me.

Esther and I are alone in the house now. Naomi, the old cat, got really sick and Daddy Dog took her to the vet and she didn't come back. Now Esther is confused and meows a lot--I think she's still looking for Naomi. She wasn't much fun, but it's definitely less interesting around here without her. And sadder.

Mama Dog has started drinking cheap beer. She's poor now, so she decided to downgrade her booze. Anyway, she left a half an empty can on the counter in the kitchen. When no one else was home, I knocked it off the counter, spilled the beer everywhere, drank it off the floor and then chrewed up teh can just for good measure.

When Daddy Dog got home, he took me out to play frisbee and noticed I wasn't running with my usual speed and precision... they understood why when Mama Dog discovered the beer can all chewed up under the dining room table.

Now I know why Mama Dog drinks beer even though it's expensive!

Mama Dog is excited

She has a web page. I'm happy because she's home so much lately. You know, she doesn't have a "day job" like Daddy Dog, so most of the time she's home with me all day. We walk and romp, and I get to sleep under the sheets after Daddy Dog leaves for work.

Anyway, she's got this web page and she's all psyched thinking that maybe someone in the wide world will find it and be filled with the desire to give her money. In the meantime, I figured I should keep up a bit with my internet presence.

Here's mom's:

We moved back to Connecticut, and I have a bigger yard and more beds to sleep in, plus a big couch. And I get to see Daddy Dog every day and the kids come over on weekends! Momma Dog is interviewing perspective new dogs to come live with us and I can't wait!!! I want a doggy friend to live with and play with and I'm very excited!

I just learned today that, in addition to being half Beagle, I am also half American Coon Hound.

I'm a big American hunting dog, hard-headed and hard-working with an obsession with wild rodents and chasing things.

At last I know who I am and where I'm from! Now to seek my future, my path... whither goest I?!

Today I ate...

A bagel for breakfast, with some cocoa powder. The cocoa powder had marshmallows. Iwish I could have added hot water and milk, but no opposable thumbs, so... just the cocoa powder with little dried marshmallows. Pretty good, still. I got to grind some of it into the carpet, too, which was fun. So I can lick the floor later and still taste the yumminess. Heh heh.

Poop and eat and sleep and fetch

I don't ask much from mamadog. Poop and eat and sleep and fetch. I mean, it's not high living, but it makes me happy. These are my simple requirements.

But what makes me really happy is when each of those things is amplified in some way. Well, not so much pooping, but everything else.

Eating is best when it's people food. Sleeping is best when it's under the blankets. And I'm willing to play fetch with my kong in the house, but it's so much better at Westminster with the frisbee! Yes, these are the really good things in life. Poop, eat, sleep, and fetch are the requirements, but they can be really special in these very easy ways. So, I gotta convince mamadog to make things special more often...

I, Buddy, am a dog. As a dog, I love to romp and play and this month, mamadog has been away a lot and I have gotten very little romping and playing. In retaliation for this neglect, I have gone on a chewing/eating rampage.

So far, the highlights of my rampge in clude an entire box of raisins and a buttercream-scented votive candle. I have also torn some empty containers and wrappers to shreds and left the shreds in the middle of the livingroom floor. Mamadog has been using her neti pot more reguarly, so there are fewer used snotrags for me to chew. Ah, well.

I hope to update the rest of the community on my chewing/eating progress. I'm sure I'll get into something real good today.
