My sweet baby, Kayleigh, has gone to heaven. Both Rich and I were with her when she took her last breath.
I held Kayleigh close and told her how much I loved her and I would miss her.
I told her to go to heaven, so she would not have to suffer, to just go and be with Jesus.
Kayleigh went quickly and unexpectedly.
Kayleigh was seen for a routine check up for slightly labored breathing and allergies just the week prior.
When her vet got back from vacation, I think she was surprised to hear that she had passed.
Kayleigh died in my arms--now I know-- I would not have wanted it any other way.
We loved her so much, it's so hard, because I loved her so much, but now she is running in the fields and swimming in the lakes once again...
my sweet angel baby, Kayleigh.
Thank you all for your prayers during this past week, your friendship, love, and compassion...all of it...thank you so so so much.
Kayleigh's Mama, ~Rosina~ xo

Hi Everybody!!
Here are some pics of when I had my surgery. Sorry it took me so long to get them on-line. Yup, that's me with my ugly Queen Anne's collar on. Like I woofed, "I don't feel like a queen!!"
I have to thank the wonderful staff at Sandhills Animal Hospital for being so kind to me, and Dr. Bethany for doing the surgery so quickley.
I am walking on my own, and very often, forget that I am disabled, and jump on and off things! It is not a pretty sight, it never goes well. I am feeling like my old self these day for sure, skipping out of the yard the minute mama and pops are not looking!! I'm never gone for long before they come running after me letting me know to get back in our yard!! I know it is wrong, but I've got friends beyond the fence, don't they see, I mean, I do have a life!!
My Gramps and Grammie came and visitted last month and it was wonderful! My Grampie loves my bed, and he could not resist relaxing on it for a while. My dad still curls up with me regularly and we have nice long conversations about the fun we are going to have this fall, camping, and swimming.
Summer is not over yet!! We are having the worst drought in history and the temperatures are still in the 80s and 90s. I miss all my squirrel buddies, who usually hang out in my yard. We leave them water, but they all must have gone back in the woods where it is cooler and there is more food. I was nice and let them eat everything in our garden, but once that was gone, they had move on.
I hope everyone is happy and healthy!! Woof! Woof!

Woof!!
I got my stitches out on monday, and everything looks good, but I am not allowed to go swimming yet, humph, big sigh...
I am allowed to have a bath...ooooh lucky meeee.
I can get up on my bed by myself with determination!! The vet said that is a no-no, but you know me...I looooove to play tricks on mama!!
My Aunt Tammy came with her family, and I just loved them so much!! I just can't get enough of all that attention!! And when they had to pack up and leave this morning for their trip to Paris Island, I tried to leave with them!!
Hey, I'm due for a vacation myself!!
I have to admit, it has been in the triple digits here for about 3 weeks, so I prefer the air conditioning whenever possible. I would love to take a long walk, but the fleas are real bad here this time of year and I HATE THEM.
I have to wear my ugly collar most of the time, because I am sure there is flea I have to chew on!! I can take it off by myself if I wanted to!! But I am a good girl, just like to prove how intellegent I can be.
(I have to get extra treats some how!!)
I have to take a lot of pills, and I don't like pills, of any kind, ever....period. I don't care if they are made to look like a treat and smell like a treat, it isn't a treat!! Yuck!! Don't try to hide it in my food, cuz I have an awesome sence of smell, I AM A YELLOW LAB RETRIEVER, that does not fool me!! Silly...
Anyway, I hope everyone out there is staying cool, drinking lots of water, swimming, and hanging out under a nice shade tree.
Lots of sloppy kisses to you'all !! Slurp'

Hi Everybody!!
I believe that the worst of my surgery is over, and there is room for nothing but improvement.
I had a big swollen leg on the side where the ball of my hip was removed, for a couple of days..but it is starting to finally go down.
I walked ON MY OWN, quite a ways, to the back yard...it felt so nice to be back near my garden again!!
It is a heat index of 102 here in SC today, so I could not stay out long, it is just too hot and tires me out much too quickley.
Once I get my stitches out and Dr. Bethany says it is okay, I am going SWIMMING !! I love to swim, especially on hot days like this one!!
I am so hungry all the time, and I don't need help going to the bathroom anymore....I can squwat on this half-a-hip pretty good, ya'all!!!
I am getting around much better since my vet got me right in for this surgery, and I am so much more happier, and the pain is not as bad, my muscles are just weak, and that will improve in time.
I can get up and down from my daybed on my own, but mama doesn't want me to so she is always trying to catch me!! (I love to play jokes on my mama!!)
My friend, Cathy, had to go home, so I have an empty spot where she used to sit. She promices she would come and visit me again soon.
My pops sister, Tammy, and her family will be here by monday, so I will have more company!!
Oh and I am getting my stitches out on monday morning, too.
Hope everyone is doing fine, too, go swimming and have a cool drink of water,
and I will chat with you later!!
Peace-
Your Pal, ~Kayleigh Noel~xoxox

Oh, I feel so much better!!
I started getting around on my own today, without the aide of my parents and the "sling thing" !!
I figured out how to take off my "Queen Anne's Collar" or what ever that attrocity they put on me is... but I did not chew at that big nasty sore on my hip. My parents said that my "incision" is healing nicely!!
I was able to eat and drink on my own today, without the help of pops. I can go up and down the ramp he made me, and go to the bathroom on my own...kind of. (What's up with that??)
My eyes are clear, my ears are perky, and I love to wag my tail again!!
I was one of Dogster's diary picks this week, and I want to thank them and all of my family and furry friends who have been so supportive. I really appreciate it!!
Woof!! Woof!!

Hi Everybody.
I am trying so hard to feel better. Well all those good drugs I was on from my surgery have worn off!! This is not very comfortable and my whole body hurts. I love when it is time for my pain killer, because it is the only time I get any relief.
My parents and had a scare the day after they brought me home. I just shivered uncontrollably and I know they were concerned. They called Dr. Bethany, and she made us all feel so much better.
It could have been one of 4 things (or the combination there of) that was making me feel so ill. Mama and pops did everything they were told, and were able to get the situation under control. I was very appreciative.
I started eating better today, but Pops has to hand feed me every little bit of what I can tolerate. ( I eat and drink better for pops than mama, it is a joke I like to play on her.)
My friend, Cathy, is here to visit, and she is so good to me and has been a great help to my parents during this trying time. Thanx Cass!!
Right now she is lying on my bed with me, and chatting with my parents. I love company so much, I just wish I felt better.
I don't really understand what is going on, and at times I am irritable because of it, and I feel like it must be for a reasons!! So I am trying so hard to be a good girl.
I just found out tonight, that after my pain pill starts working, I can stand on my own for a few seconds, and Mama, Pops, and Cathy cheered me on!!!
I felt very proud, but it really hurt.
I will keep everyone up to date as I get better with each day.
Peace and love to all!!

I had to stay a little longer at the hospital, so I did not get to come home until after dinner.
I tolerated my surgery VERY well, no complications at all, Dr. Bethany said!!
I am totally irratable, even so, I think I understand some how..(mama does not know how) that my humans are trying to help me.
I have a great big incision, and a great big cone on my head, and I feel like total dog doo-doo!! (No pun intended.)
My friend, Cathy, will be here by morning!! She is coming all the way from Syracuse to see me!!
I have to go back to sleep now, I am soooo stressed and tired.
Tomorrow is new day!!

Well, ya know, I am going to be 12 years old in December??
I have hip dysplasia which is common in labs like me.
We had lots of xrays taken on monday and come to find out I did not have a socket left in one of my hips due to this hip dysplasia, arthritis, and old age.
It had been giving me problems for quite a while, a long with my knees. I must have landed on my hip wrong, and because there is no socket left, the ball of my hip was popped into an area that was causing me a lot of pain.
So I had the ball removed today, to stop the pain, because there is no socket left at all to put it back in to.
It has been getting harder and harder for me to go up and down stares for about a month now, and because I never complain, my humans had no idea that this had gotten that bad until I landed on it too hard.
Once my operation heals, I have to do my physical therapy every day, and that includes swimming, so I will get to go to the lake all the time, the vet said I can go every day if I want, once I heal!!
If I do well with this surgery, and prove that I can build the muscles up in both of my back legs, and walk on my own, then my vet said I can have one knee surgery done...and that will help me walk and feel better also.
My daddy built me a ramp today...so I can get in and out of our house easier from now on.
I can't wait to see my parents, the vet office said they can come and visit me tomorrow morning and possibly take me home some time tomorrow, too!!
I have a vet tech that is really nice to me, spends a lot of time petting me and talking to me...so I was very excited to go back this morning. (I had no idea that I was having surgery!! )
They ride me around on this stretcher thing, and I luv it...it makes me smile and wag my tail a lot. It makes my humans nervous that I am going to wiggle my way right off and fall again!!
Right now, I am on medication so that I am not in any pain and sleeping comfortably at the vet office. (Mama hopes and prays.)
We will load some pics of me with my new boo-boo, and my "radar helmet" so I can't tear my stitches out. ...and keep all my pals up to date on my recovery.
Until then...everyone stay happy and healthy!!
Your Pal, ~Kayleigh~ xo woof! woof!

I have been trying to catch up with all my friends at Dogster all week!!
I have been swimming in Juniper Lake more often this summer. We do not have to pay to get in anymore, so now mama can bring me when ever she wants!!
I luv to sit by the sprinklers in our back yard and watch the garden grow. OH, and daddy built me a fantastic new daybed, nice and rooomy, cuz I love to have someone (anyone) to lie down with!! (Gramma Sue and my friend Joni, sack out with me when ever they visit...oh it is so special!!)
I was so excited!! My Granny came (my mama's mama) to visit with my cousin, Krista, and I showed them my new house and my new yard and how I swim!! (Pictures to follow, real soon!}
We went back to Syracuse for a vacation, and stayed with my favorite Uncle, Joe. We had perfect weather, had a big party at his house. (He has an awesome back yard!!) and I got to see all my Aunts and Uncles for the first time in over 3 years!!
It has been a very hot, dry, crazy summer here in SC!! I luv it here...but I injured another knee a couple of weeks ago, so now I have to have surgery in a couple of weeks from now. Bummer.
I go in monday for all my new X-rays to be taken, so they have to nock me out for a little while. My Pops and Mama are very nervous, but I'll be just fine, I'm sure.
I really miss my walks and swimming...so hopefully after these 2 surgeries, I'll be getting around on my own by next spring.
My parents are buying me a little cart to put my hips on, so I can take walks as soon as possible after my surgery. I know I will look kind of funny, but I love SC sunshine!!
Our family took so many great new pics to share with y'all, but our scanner broke, so as soon as the Geek Sqaud gets here on sunday to fix it...than we will get all the great new stuff on-line!!
I am also excited that my good friend from NY, Cathy, and My Aunt Tammy and both my cousins are coming to visit in August!! Then, my Gramps and Grammy Susie will be here in September...So I will have lots of company while I am recovering!!
I hope everyone out there is happy and healthy and is enjoying their summer!!
Peace!
Your Dogster Pal, ~Kayleigh Noel~
