Best Biscuit Catcher - It's Official.

I got 2nd place in "Best Biscuit Catcher" at a dog show yesterday.

It was a big class too and we all had a catch-off where the dogs who didn't catch the treats were out. I held off until second. Hooray.

I got a bigggg bag of yummy lamb treats and a rosete.

Why is it so hard?

Why is it so hard to find a dog obedience class which you actually completely like?

I just want one where I can make friends with strange doggies. =( Me thinks we need to start up our own classes.

I was at the vet today. I haven't been well recently. Mum's checks us over frequently & was worried it was something serious. I've also slowed down so much the past few months. Mum's having to wait for me on our walks now.

He said I was healthy - no lumps or bumps & nice teech & gumps but I do have swelling on my joints. Mum knew I had arthitis (Winnie had it) but we have conformation & now I have some medication to put on my food. He said lots of short walks for a bit. I've got to go back in 2 weeks.

In happier news, we're off to a dog show on Sunday. It's only a small fund raising event but we've gone for the past 2 years.

Gypsy's also stealing more of my tricks & learnt to put the toys in the box - in 10 minutes! She's too clever for her own good. Like when she was found helping her self to our food last week. Dunno how she got in that cupboard.

Scary Sunday!

Hi pups.

On Sunday, our internet was fried by a litening strike as well as the main computer, the upstairs phone & phone line.

It was quite scary. We were sat watching TV. It was raining slightly outside & there had been some rumbles of thunder but it was miles away.

Suddenly all at the same time, there was a loud bang which shook the house, a flash of lightening & the power cut off. This was closely followed by a loud crack of thunder. It literally came out of nowhere. It was quite scary. Straight after the the heavens opened & rain came pouring down & the wind turned into a gail. We thought the rain was going to crack the windows, it was hitting so hard.

I was sleeping in the conservatary at the time & came racing in like a flash of black & white & drived under the table for cover when the bang happened. Gypsy thought it was all very fun & began racing around the house with us, upstiars & downstars, turning off anything which still turned on or plug in - clocks, the fish tank pump etc.

Our lovely neighbour came over to turn the power back on for us. He was hit worse than us & lost his computer, his internet, all his TVs and phone line. Mums calls him head of the street because when anything goes wrong he is the first person outside & knocking on peoples doors. Making sure everything's okay.

We have a new internet roter set up now. Hopefully we'll get insurance money for everything.

We are not sure if we or one of our neighbours was hit or if it just low in the sky. We're just glad it wasn't much worse.

Dog Show, Winner & Flyball Dog in the making

Hiya pups.

Today Mum, Gypsy & I went to a village fete where there was a dog show, hosted by our club, as well as demonstrations of flyball, agility & obedience.

There weren't many categories in the dog show so Gypsy entered one & I entered another. And I came second. Woohoo. I am officially the second Best Dog over 7 years old. I got a pretty rosete, some treats & a certificate. See here

Gypsy got very excited while watching the other dogs. Jumping about barking. She seems to be getting past her nerviousness but Mum wishes she would not jump at other dogs and children while barking & growling. We don't think it's aggressive but OTT playfulness.

Before we left, I had a go at flyball. Mum said I was a star. She knew I would go & get the ball but was quite shocked when I brought it back. I had a few goes & only jumped over the netting once. I was also very fast both ways, which also suprised Mum. Apart from being awesome at it, I also looked like I was really loving every thing about it.

Gypsy also had a go, though winthout the jumps. She gets the idea of running to the man shouting her name & then to Mum who shouts her name. But the idea you have to at least pick the ball up is beyond her. She is not very interested in balls.

The man slightly irritated Mum. I was awesome at it (so Mum thought) but he seemed more interested in Gypsy. Telling us about starters flyball & how we could get her more interested in balls. Mum put it down it my age.

Anywho, Mum is starting to consider signing me up for some classes. Just for fun though, not competing because we think it may be too much for me. We have to consider my age & health before we start. But it'd be good experence for Mum & Gyp for when Gyp starts too as she will, hopefully, be competing.
