Nicknames: Sammy, Sammygirl, Sammy Pajami
Doggie Dynamics: Energy Intelligence Friendliness Playfulness Disposition
Quick Bio: Likes: Playing with her stuffed hedgehog
Pet-Peeves: Being left alone
Favorite Toy: Hedgehog and Mr. Monkey
Favorite Food: Sammy would truly eat anything!
Favorite Walk: Anywhere with me!
Best Tricks: We called her moaner groaner but it always sounded as if she was trying to talk to us.
Arrival Story: it was a very hot day in August 1993. I was sitting on the front step when this little black puppy ran across the street, almost getting hit by a car. She was so frightened that she jumped right into my lap (and into my heart at that same instant).
She was tiny and we were unable to find who she belonged to. Even though we already had 2 German Shepherds, my father let me keep her. From day one, it was obvious that I was her mistress.
I took her to the vet who told me that he thought her to only be about 4 weeks old. Not even old enough to be away from her mother yet. He also diagnosed her with Parvo and suggested that she be PTS because of her small size and young age, he felt she would be unlikely to survive it. I told him to do whatever he needed to do to save her. She not only survived it, but she thrived!
Bio: In 1999 my father was diagnosed with cancer. Having lost my mother at a young age, my father and I were extremely close. When he died I didn't think I would survive it. Sammy always knew when I needed her most and would come over and nuzzle me or give me a kiss when I needed it most.
In August of 2000 Sammy ate some Decon that was under a kitchen cabinet. I rushed her to my vet who said her only chance was to take her to a critical care facility and get her blood transfusions. 10 days later we took home a skinny, but very happy Samantha. I have never had Decon in my house again. The vet told me that it's like antifreeze to dogs and cats. It smells good to them.
In DEC 2005 Sammy took ill and I was really worried that the end might be near. I was almost afraid to take her to the vet for fear of what he might tell me. It turned out that she needed a hysterectomy. By the time she had her surgery, I felt confident that she would pull through because as I said she was my miracle dog. She came through the surgery with flying colors.
My husband took ill last July and was in the hospital from July 13 to Sept 30. I don't know how I would have gotten through that time with out her. Sammy died on DEC 4, 2006 and letting the vet PTS was probably the hardest thing I ever did. I could see back in the summer time that she was failing in health and I really believe that she held on as long as she did because she knew how much I needed her. After Ernie (my DH) came home and got stronger and well, I think she felt that it was time for her to go.
I've had many special friends throughout my life, but none that touched me as much or had a connection to me as much as Sammy did. I will miss her until my dying day.

Hi!
This is Sammy, Molly and Pongo's mom, Mishy writing. I wanted to thank all of my wonderful Dogster and Catster friends for sharing their thoughts, wishes, and prayers for us after the loss of my dear husband Ernie. It meant a tremendous amount to us, especially since we have no family in the area and it really made me feel a lot less alone in this world. Thank you again, I will never forget your kindness...

Mom entered me in Dogster's World's Coolest Dog contest. I hope that I get some votes. Mom says I am the cutest dog ever, but I think she is probably just a little biased :-))
