   Leave a bone for Manny

Manny Pants, Lover Boy, Mama's Boy, Handsome, Manuel (when he's in trouble!)

Quick Bio:
-purebred-dog rescue

Lovin', his sisters Rosie and Tillie, his kitty Chico, running like a maniac around the perimeter of the back yard, lovin', car rides, walking (running!) off-leash, swimming in the river, gettin' a big ol' bone. Did I mention lovin'?

Not a one. He loves everyone and everything.

Favorite Toy:
Anything with stuffing that can be pulled out, a good tough pull rope (and it MUST be tough!), his kitty Chico whom he lords over (so he thinks!)

Favorite Food:
He has quite an adventurous palate. He'll try just about anything, and he's very polite about taking it from your hand. Peanut butter, cheese and cat poop are at the top of the list.

Favorite Walk:
Walk?! Really?! Let's go! Come on already! What's taking so damn long??!! Hurry up....where are the leashes? Let's go, let's go!

Best Tricks:
Looking so damn cute that he melts your heart!

Arrival Story:
My boy, Franklin, died suddenly in September 2002. I was devastated and wasn't sure I was ready for another dog so soon, but a friend told me of a pitbull baby she knew of that would need a good home. I went to visit him...he was so very tiny and had no hair on his body. Apparently, a bad neighborhood breeder discarded him because he had mange. He was found in the middle of the road at two weeks of age, covered with fleas and maggots. His rescuers didn't think he would make it through the night, but he did and with lots of love and care he pulled through. As sweet as he was, I was so sad about Franklin and just didn't feel ready to bring home such a wee thing. A few weeks later, though, I called to see if he was still available...and he was. I went to see him again and took him home that night. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. He mended my broken heart.

Manny is ALL love and displays the best traits of his breed: intelligence, loyalty, affection and playfullness. He is, hands down, the most joyful being I've ever known. I encourage everyone to learn for themselves the wonderful animals that pitties are when they are shown love and compassion, and to reject the all-too-common belief that they are dangerous and vicious.
