Quick Bio:

Birthday:
June 8th 2001

Arrival Story:
Ruger was adopted from Valley Dog Rescue in Carbondale, Co. (I saw his pictures on petfinder.com). His first family decided he wasn't worthy enough to bring along when they moved; their human children took precedence, which is too often the case with perfectly normal dogs. Too bad for them. He is the sweetest boy. He just loves life, and he tries real hard to please mom & dad & lab-sister, Shadow. He's got the best facial-expressions and he gives the nicest kisses! Our dogs ARE our children and we will not have it any other way.

Bio:
Born June 8th, 2001, Ruger is a beautiful sable GSD. His entire mother's lineage are white shepherd dogs, hence the lighter colorings. Flurry's Snow Wolf is one of his great-great grandmothers, herself a WSD champion. His father's side are the traditional GSDs, many of whom were champions, including Sable Bauer Von Haus Barwig, Sinbad's Arabian Knights, and Orkan Von Der Dollenweise, a championed great-great grandfather from Germany. We are currently trying to locate his breeders (Donna & Steve Cain) as we'd like to know what his siblings are up to and what they look like. I believe his sire (Wranger Won) and his dam (Di Angelo's Lady Ginger) were possibly bred as an experiment, but we're really not sure why, perhaps for pure beauty. He gets looks everywhere we take him. If anybody happens to have any information as to his breeder's or his sibling's whereabouts, please contact us through dogster friends. Ruger carries the normal traits most shepherds do, such as herding. He is very vocal, especially when he wants something. He makes all kinds of sounds, like he is really trying to talk! We truly love this boy!

My Diary

I miss you Ruger!

My former husband and I adopted Ruger shortly after the passing of my beloved Moab. I knew we had the space in our hearts for another dog, even though it had only been a few weeks. Shadow was getting lonely, and I couldn't stand for her to be alone! She missed Moab badly, too. I found Ruger through a local rescue on the internet, and knew he was meant for us.

Sadly, a year or so after we adopted Ruger, my marriage ended and Ruger needed to stay with his daddy. They had formed a special bond and even though I wanted him to come with me and my girl Shadow, it wouldn't have been fair to either of them. He remains in a good home with a very responsible owner that tends to the special needs of Ruger. I still think of him as part of my family (I did find and rescue him, afterall). I am glad that we got to share time together, even if it was only for a little while.

Wherever you are now, Ruger, know that you are missed and loved and you will always have a home with us in the event your daddy cannot continue to take care of you.
