So, I did it, I did it, I did it! Two days ago I caught my very first squirrel. You see, I have been trying for nearly two years now and I've just now perfected my technique. Now, I can't understand why--this was the best day of my life!--but Mommy was very upset with me when she saw me running gleefully around the yard with it. She screamed really loud and snatched me up and took me in the house and stuck my snoot underneath the faucet. Then she started crying (over a squirrel, can you even imagine?). When Daddy came home, she made him "handle" it. Then this morning, when I caught my second squirrel (!), Daddy saw me hovering over it and even though I'd left this one still alive (okay, barely alive), he started screaming and yelling at me, too. What is wrong with these humans? Don't they know that squirrels are the bane of every JRT's existence and must be extinguished at all costs? And now I know how to actually catch them instead of futilely jumping at trees and shrieking at the top of my lungs for hours a day? They should be happy for me. At any rate, now, instead of being outside in this lovely fall weather, I am stuck here in the office, staring at Mommy as she works on the computer, planning next week's menu or some such rot. I don't think she understands. And standing on the keyboard doesn't seem to help her get it. I. Need. To. Be. Outside. Now. There are lots more squirrels out there to catch! I just have to figure out how to let myself out of the back door and I'll be set. Gotta go now, even if I can't get outside I am going to go stand in the window sill and look at the squirrels as I plot my next move...
