Arrival Story:
We were on our way home from a trip and we stopped at a small Mom & Pop store. They had a play pen full of black and chocolate labs. It was perfect, we had been looking for a dog and these labs were wonderful!!! We talked for a long time to the breeder. He took us outside to show us how the pups loved to swim and how any one of them would make a great bird dog. Well there was one little pup that wouldn't go in the water with the others. She just sat on my foot and looked up at me. I knew then that she had chosen me for her Mom. The breeder said "don't you want to look at the others"? I said no, no need. I have always felt honored that Beary chose me to love that day.
Bio:
Beary was wonderful, beautiful, smart, fun and a million other things, all good. The days of our lives just aren't as bright without her. She had acute arthritis in her spine, shoulders and knees. She never cried or whined. The arthritis medication she took had to be stronger and stronger as she got older, finally she couldn't take it anymore because it had damaged her stomach. Even though it was extremely painful for her near the end she always wanted to be with us, she didn't want us to help her, she wanted to do it on her own. She was the most incredibly brave individual I ever known, four legs or two.
.....Don't cry for me now that I'm gone because finally I can run free...
