Walks and rib bones

Firecrackers, thunder, having her nose washed off, and when we are too busy to take her for a walk

Favorite Toy:
Won't touch any toy, though we've tried many kinds

Favorite Food:
She eats Purina Select Senior Turkey, but she'll clean out the cat's dishes if you don't watch her!

Favorite Walk:
The large field near our home, or the beach

Best Tricks:
Tricks? Ummm, don't think so! She can "sit" ha!

Arrival Story:
My husband and I were working at a house in a neighborhood under construction. Some of the homes were occupied, but the majority were still in studs. I noticed this black and white dog hanging around all day. I just assumed she belonged to one of the construction workers. We didn't get finished 'til after dark, and she was still there. I asked some of the residents, and they said she had been around a few days, but did not belong to anyone. It had been many years since our beloved Husky, Niki had died in our arms at 12, of a heart attack. I had been pleading for another dog, but with all the cats, we didn't know how to introduce a new dog to them. My husband reluctantly agreed that if she would jump up into our van, she could come home, but we would have to place ads and try to find her owner. She hopped in and laid down like she knew just what he said. Attempts to locate an owner were unsuccessful, so she became ours!

Lizzy is a wonderful dog, but she is terribly shy, and becomes frightened at almost everything. The groomers groan when they see her come in, because she will pee every time they touch her. My husband always tips them well out of guilt! She is a little intimidated when the cats mass around her, and she lays out flat on the floor! It always reminds we of the scene in 'Gulliver's Travels", where he is tied down and surrounded! But she is a perfect girl around them. She and Griffin have become good friends. She also has a very unique eye. One is half blue, half brown, right across the middle! Liz is petrified of firecrackers and thunder, and we actually have to tranquilize her, or she hyperventilates and tears things up! She almost ate through a door. Her favorite time of the day is when we feed the cats their can food. She gets to lick the gravy from all the cans. She has learned to hold the can with her foot by splitting two toes. Her nose has a permanent brown stain from the gravy! She won't play with toys, but she loves her treats, and has four jars of them. Even with her problems, she's a pretty good 'ole girl, and we love her to pieces! UPDATE: Our sweet Lizzy finally succumbed to old age. It is hard to not see her beautiful face every day. She was a big part of our lives and will always be a part of our memories.

Holy Holistic!

I need an opinion...
I have the itchies, and I've had them for years, and we have tried lots of stuff.
I rub my back against the cedar fence until all the fur is gone. And I chew at my legs.
(that's why I don't have any new pictures!)
I don't have fleas, I am on Frontline Plus, and my vet had me on Benadryl twice a day, which sort of helped, but then it stopped working all together.
Next the vet switched me to Zyrtec and it seemed to help, but that stopped working too.
So mom went to this well respected groomer, and she recommended changing my diet completely. Now, I have never eaten cheap dog food. I always ate Purina Pro Select turkey and barley. I loved it. But I did get occasional table scraps, tortilla chips and I always licked the cat food cans dry. Mmmm.
But that's all changed now.
So here's what I'd like an opinion on. I'm now eating a holistic food called "Solid Gold". Have any of you heard of it, or are on it? Im addition I have this enzyme powder that is sprinkled on, and I actually like it.
Can you believe, they gave all my doggie treats away to the shelter too?
The new holistic treats are yummy, but expensive. So I don't get as many, but that's okay.
It's been a month now, and I am still itching. They said it might take as long as two months to see a difference, but momma is wondering if I should be better by now?
If anyone has some advice, I will welcome it.
Thanks for letting me woof about this.

Well...I am officially an OLD dog! I am ten years old now, and guess what? My humans forgot my barkday for the second year in a row! grrrrrr!
If not for the Dogster notification, they might have not remembered for a week.
(Thanks Dogster, licks for you)
I will give them this brother cat, Zack, went to the Bridge recently, and my other brother, Harry has been very sick, so I will excuse them this year. But I want a party next year.
So today I got some scrumptious pork rib bones. Yummmm, my favorite.
It was a beautiful sunny, South Texas day. I think I heard the word 'bath", and "scruffy dog", but hopefully they weren't talking about me.
Actually I like my oatmeal and brown sugar shampoo baths. It feels and smells good.
Plus, with my new Furminator comb, I won't shed as much. Momma said it was looking like there were black tumbleweeds in the garage. hehehe. I worked hard at spreading that hair everywhere.
That's about it, my pals.

What's Up With This?

If you've been following my story, by now you know I am the sole dog in a rescue house of 29 cats!
As if that wasn't bad enough, I am expected to help with the dishes. Each night I faithfully help rid the cat food cans of any left over gravy, that might otherwise, attrack bugs. This I do without additional compensation. (Please don't tell the 2 legger's that I actually look forward to this.) But tonight was a little different. I normally carry the cans out onto my kennel to rattle and clang around, and annoy the neighbors. So, NOW, the 2 legger female starts with this..."Come on Lizzy girl, pick the can up and bring it to mamma!""Put it in the trash can, Lizzy, you can do it!!" So what is up with this?
And don't try to tell me she hasn't heard "You can't teach an old dog new tricks", everyone knows that. Sheeesh!
I'm beginning to think I should have had my Pawyer draw up a pre-pup-tial agreement, before I signed on with this family!
