 Quick Bio:
Likes: The extremes: High Activity & Deep Rest

Pet-Peeves: Luna is bothered by nothing

Favorite Toy: We think her favorite thing is her pack member Satchel

Favorite Food: Luna is willing to try anything and is passionate about virtually any food. When she drools, she flows!

Favorite Walk: Anywhere

Best Tricks: She's the cutest when she does 'Take A Bow,' but she would play 'Hide & Seek' all day if I could find enough spots!

Arrival Story: Luna came to us at 10 months. We weren't even looking for another dog. I had read that getting another dog could enhance & lengthen the life of an older dog, and since our beloved Satchel was about 9 at the time, I wanted to do anything in the world to keep keeping him! A friend of ours thought my husband Jason and I to be great dog owners and asked Jason to talk to me about his daughter's Black Lab who was overwhelming them. At the time, they just couldn't take care of her needs and thought there might be something wrong with her. Once Jason said, "Jim's daughter has this dog..." I said, "I want her." I'd never met her, but knew she was ours. The family had a hard time letting her go, but once they did, I told Luna the only thing wrong with her was that she was with the wrong family. They wanted to love her, but they were confused since she was really ours! We don't even remember not having her in our family. She is perfect - perfect for us and Just Plain Perfect!

Bio: In 2006, Luna went through some training and became a Certified Therapy Dog through Dr. Paws of Michigan. She has visited people in hospitals who need a little pick-me-up in her special Luna Style! She is an angel in doggie form.

We're all back together! Yay!
Jason and Leanne took a road trip and sent us to stay with Jason's mom and dad. They like us over there and I ate and played and rested and was fine, but we like to be all together! Satchel & I slept for 2 days once we got home! Now we're all back to our routines and loving it.
Leanne told me she saw a family of moose in New Hampshire and had wished me and Satchel were there to see them. She hates to have us miss out on anything as a family...
We have a plan to go camping in June and I'm totally excited! Satchel, not so much. We'll all see if he likes it this year or not... I love it and can't wait to swim in Lake Michigan (Leanne wears this wet suit thingy but the water doesn't feel that cold to me!) and walk all day in the woods and smell like a campfire and show everyone at Sleepy Bear Campground how great I am.
I'll give you the scoop after that trip, but whew, am I glad we're all back at The Pack today!

Everyone can tell Leanne adores me, but she's found yet another reason to think I'm great. We had some friends' dogs at our house for about a week and Leanne says I taught one of them, the puppy, how to climb and go down stairs, play with another dog, come when you are called and how to walk on a leash! No wonder I was so tired when that puppy left! It was fun having guests, but I like it better when it's just us, The Pack at Casa Curtin-Hess.
Leanne is talking about the trips we'll take this summer to our Doggy Paradise, The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park. We hike all day, and swim in Lake Michigan in the evening, and sleep in a tent, and get all dirty, and bug Jason with sand everywhere, and amaze everyone at the campground. There are sometimes other dogs there, but somehow we're the most popular. Leanne says it's because we're so cute and so smart and so gentle and so well-behaved. Maybe we're not the most popular. Maybe Leanne just likes to tell us we're the best dogs in all of Empire. Whatever. It's pretty clear how she feels about us and that always feels good.
I'm going with Leanne to Botsford Hospital to show kids about how I'm a therapy dog and really cheerful and fun this week. I'll let you know how fun I was next time!
More to come,
Luna

Leanne can tell that it's Spring because I needed 2 baths in 2 days...I was Compelled to roll in some kind of critter's poop. I couldn't help myself! Leanne wasn't really mad, but she said she hadn't budgeted bath time into the afternoon. My baths would have to be quick!
My baths aren't really baths. Leanne & Jason have a big shower and there's this sprayer with a hose. I have to walk into the shower and with either Pert Plus or Pantene, I get sudsed and sprayed and rinsed and massaged and rinsed and sprayed. It seems like it takes a long time. L&J tell me I'm so good and that I'm almost done and then I get wrapped up in some big blue towels and I'm out! They don't seem to love it, but I shake a few times. What makes them laugh every time is when I run around the house with my ears back and then plop down and lay completely still. Leanne never forgets that I get a treat after. We're not sure if it's them that has me trained to go to the pantry, or if it's me that has them trained... I'm pretty sure it's me...having them trained!
I've been walking a lot more. Leanne has been walking our friends' dogs Chip & Indi, so she brings me for fun. It is fun. I'm pretty tired when we get home, but this whole Spring thing is a really good thing.
Our pack is good. Our vet is going to come out soon to make sure that's truly true, but we know it is.
More to come from the Pack,
