Arrival Story:
I went to the Humane Society with a friend who was scouting around for a dog, and this crazy face stole my heart. I was going to name him "Houdini" because of his tuxedo coloring, but thought it might be a "bad mojo" to name a dog after an escape artist, so I named him after the Phantom of the Opera instead (because of his white mask). The second day of crate training, however, Phantom picked the latches on his crate and met me at the door! When he repeated this trick several times, I decided fate was trying to tell me something, so "Houdini" became part of his name after all!

Phantom was too smart for his own good... when I got out the treats, he tried to second-guess me on commands -- he ran through his entire repertoire of tricks! Phantom passed away of cancer on September 27, 2012, but he was energetic and active up to the last 2 weeks of his live, and passed peacefully in his sleep. His bright spirit is very much with us, though, and he lets us know this in sometimes surprising ways!
