   Leave a bone for Tevye

Nicknames:
Tevvy, Lil' T, T-Dog (aka: Terrence, TERReentz, T-Rentz)

Quick Bio:
-dog rescue

Birthday:
March 3rd 1999

Arrival Story:
The rescue group I foster for took some chihuahuas from a horrible situation where they were found with 30 other dogs left to fend for themselves in an old trailer. There were no people living in the trailer, there was no food to be found, and every surface in the trailer was covered in feces. The dogs were sick, filthy, and appeared to have never been handled by humans. Our rescue group took 6 of the 30 (other dogs went to other groups) and four of them have new homes! Jimmy and Terrence are the two remaining dogs. I brought Terrence to my house on 3/3/07 as my new "project." I was told I would not be able to walk him on a leash. Well, I walked him on a leash that very day! I'm not saying it wasn't a struggle, he definitely fought the idea, but finally figured out is was in his best interest to work WITH the leash, not against it. We've had some great walks since. And now his little tail wags as we head out the door. I can pet him if I'm slow and cautious, but he still prefers to sit about 5 feet away from me.

Bio:
***4/20/08: Soooo many updates, not enough time to write them all. I finally decided to adopt Terrence on 3/2/08, the same day I adopted Squiggy. He has made such amazing progress. I can pick Terrence up now and he snuggles next to me in bed. He absolutely LOVES Henna and follows her everywhere. He's still a nervous little dog and jumps back if someone moves too quickly or makes a loud noise. But he does great on walks and in the car. I even took him on a trip last month. A few weeks ago I gave him his first bath without a muzzle. That was exciting. And I've been able to have the neighbor kids pet him and give him treats (under very close supervision, of course). I never liked the name "Terrence," unfortunately, so as I considered adopting him, I knew I'd need to come up with a new name. I went through lists and lists of options, but nothing seemed quite right. I wanted to try to keep it a "T" name and I finally landed on the name "Tevye" a couple days ago. The name doesn't matter much, though, since I still just call him Lil' T.
