Best Tricks:
Sit, shake

Arrival Story:
She is originally from West Virginia. Her mom was pregnant and was rescued from a high kill shelter in WV and transported to a no-kill shelter in NJ. I saw her on Petfinder.com and had to go get her. There were 11 puppies and when I got there she was sleeping. Her siblings were jumping around, chewing on my fingers. Oatmeal lifted her head, looked around, then went back to sleep. I knew that the lazy one was the one I wanted. I went to another room with her where we played together and I fell in love with her. I couldn't take her home until Chris came to see her (shelter's rule). The next day I brought him to see her, he picked her up, I asked if he wanted to play with her first, he said "nope, I'm sold", and we took her home.

Oatmeal's Deep Thoughts

Mom and Dad put some presents under the Christmas tree last night. I smelled them and figured that they're probably mine so while Mom and Dad were in the kitchen I swiped one and took it into the living room. I had just started ripping the paper when Dad bolted into the room and took it from me. I guess he heard the paper ripping. Dang it! I was so close. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to open my presents since they wised up and put my gifts out of reach.

I'm convinced that Cornflake was faking. Her limp is gone now. Mom and Dad took her to the vet and apparently he thinks she has panosteitis which she'll outgrow. It's some sort of bone thing that is pretty commom in bassets. Well, I'm glad she's okay anyway. She's kind of a brat but she's my sister and sometimes I like having her around.

I'm glad she went to the vet and not me though. I used to love going there. If you've read my early blogs then you know why I hate it now. I'm pretty much a homebody now. I like my house and my yard and my family. I don't need to go anywhere.

We're worried about the mean one. Cornflake is the mean one. The poor brat is limping around and it's pretty pitiful. She's hopping and doing everything to avoid walking on her back left leg. I hope she's okay. Dad's been trying frantically to get her in to see the vet tomorrow. He's assured her that she'll be going. She's been so unlike herself today though. Normally she's running around and being a little butthole to me but today she's just laying around. I actually feel sorry for the little monster. Poor thing.
