Arrival Story:
Minnie came one month after I got Mickey (my first dog). Mickey is very attached to me and whenever I wasn't home, he would either run into my room and wait until I came home or try to find clothing that I've worn recently and sleep on it. Seeing how Mickey was having major separation anxiety, I decided to get a second dog so that he/she can keep him company while I was gone. My first dog is a Mi-Ki so I was thinking about buying another dog that is also a Mi-Ki but my mom has this liking for Shih-tzu. With that said, I began looking for a Shih-tzu and soon after I brought home my second baby!

I have to be honest, in the beginning I had a very hard time with Minnie (my shih-tzu). She didn't potty train as well as Mickey did and the basic commondas were harder for her to catch on. It wasn't until a month later did everything begin to come together. Minnie started catching up to what I was consistently teaching her and she understood the purpose of the puppy pads. In the beginning she didn't get along with Mickey as well as I had hoped. Actually, let me rephrase that, Mickey didn't along with Minnie as well as I had hoped. The territorial and jealousy came out and took awhile to go away. Minnie loved to be with Mickey but Mickey tried to avoid Minnie so it was a very difficult time for me. However, as time went by, both my babies got acquainted with one another and became great friends. Now they get along well. Minnie brings out the energy in Mickey. Mickey use to be very passive and calm, low in energy and lived a sedate life style. When Minnie came along, her awesome outgoing personality was contagious and soon Mickey become just as outgoing. In the beginning, she may not be the dog that everyone instantly loves but she has a way of creeping into your heart and before you know you, you're completely in love with her! She's the best! Sweet, fluffy, and is able to read your emotions. When I'm sad and having a bad day, I'm more clam and not as active with the dogs. Minnie will look at me, figure out that I'm upset, and stay by me more than she normally would. She would climb into my lap, sit perfectly still, and stay by my side until I feel better. Sounds too good to be true? Well it is and I'm loving it.
