Quick Bio:

Birthday:
November 4th 2002

Likes:
Attention! Especially when she wants to play. She has a weakness for a morning romp right when we first wake up.

Pet-Peeves:
Nudging her while she's asleep in bed.

Favorite Toy:
Her leopard spotted plush squeaky bone from her Daddy; and wadded up paper that she can chase like a ball before shredding into a million pieces.

Favorite Food:
Cheese! Chicken is a close second. And she has a rather bizarre addiction to green beans, pineapple and banana.

Favorite Walk:
Anyplace she is likely to run into other dogs or people.

Best Tricks:
Being so cute that she gets just about whatever she wants.

Arrival Story:
I saw her picture online and knew that she was my dog and I had to do whatever was necessary to get her -- even though she was 2000 miles away and I had no idea how I was going to find the money and the time to travel that far to get her.

Bio:
She was born outside of Chicago. I brought her home to live with me in California. We later moved to New York. And we have recently relocated to Texas. After several years of working for an airline, she got to travel with me ALL the time, and she is SUCH good girl. I wish the children on the airplanes were half as quiet and well behaved as my munchkin is.

Forums Motto:
Paper's Meant for Chewing!

Zeka:
One of Zeka's favorite pasttimes is to attack our feet under the blankets -- and if our feet aren't under the blankets, then that's ok, cuz she'll either happily attack our toes (or fingers), or just skip us entirely and attack the blankets!

Daddy's Girl Who Misses Her Mommy

My Mommy travels on business a lot. It is nice when I get to go with her, but not always possible (especially since the corporate condo now has a ban on pets -- I'd like to see them ban kids, too!! Hmph!). Sometimes Daddy and I stay home without her. As much as I love my Daddy, I miss Mommy when she's gone.

For starters, Mommy is a really good cook. (Daddy's idea of cooking is unwrapping cheese and lunchmeat while eating it standing in the fridge -- which means no leftovers for me!) And not only does Mommy cook really well, but she ALWAYS gives me something special.

The other morning I thought I heard her in the kitchen and went running in there to see what she was making and to be a good girl and wait for a treat. But when I went in there, I couldn't find her. I was shocked to see Daddy standing at the stove! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me! My Daddy barely boils water most days. If Mommy didn't leave him food in the fridge when she went out of town, he'd eat tuna out of a can every day until she got back. But there he was, standing at the stove, making bacon and eggs.

It was a shocking moment for a little girl like me.

But it also made me realize how much I miss Mommy. Because no matter how much Daddy loves me, the one thing my Daddy will never share with ANYONE (even Mommy) is bacon.

So I sadly turned around and walked out of the kitchen.

I don't know when Mommy is going to be home, but it can't be soon enough. Every time I hear the front gate open, I go running to the door waiting to see her. But so far, it hasn't been her yet. It's been almost a week now. She should really come home.

The only person who may miss her more than me is Daddy.

I do it just to confuse them

My Mommy and Daddy are so funny sometimes. They are so easy to baffle that sometimes I do it just for the fun of it. Take last night for instance: Daddy was eating his dinner, and I sat there, like the pretty girl that I am, watching him intently, using my superior intellectual powers to project the all-important thought to him: "I will give some food to Zeka!"

Eventually, my efforts paid off, and he pulled something off his plate, told me to sit (which I was really already doing, so I'm not sure why he felt the need, but whatever), and then once I did, he handed it to me.

Now, it didn't take me long to realize that what he handed me wasn't really anything that I was hoping for -- no chicken, no cheese, no egg, no bacon. Nothing interesting. In point of fact, it was something entirely UNinteresting: it was a green bean.

HOWEVER, the green bean was covered in butter! So, I ate it, enjoying some nicely processed dairy products, and then looked at him to see if he'd give me another one. He and Mommy were so suprised and amused that I would eat a green bean, that he kept giving me more and more of them.

Mommy swears that when I was a baby that I'd eat vegetables all the time (especially baby carrots and the core of romain lettuce, or so she says, anyway). I don't really believe her, because those don't strike me as terribly good. I mean, maybe if they came with cheese or bacon or even some decent Ranch dressing they'd be ok. But plain? Yuck!

But apparently the novelty of seeing me eat vegetables was amusing enough that they kept giving them to me and laughing that I was perfectly happy to eat them. I can't help but wonder, though: does Mommy not REMEMBER that she covered them with butter and salt before she gave them to Daddy? I mean, please! With enough butter, I could/would eat ANYTHING.

Even green beans.

Daddy's Girl

Mommy gets kinda pissy sometimes about me being a Daddy's Girl. I think she's jealous. After all, it was just me and Mom before we met Dad. But since Mommy is a Daddy's Girl herself, I would think she'd get it.

Take this weekend for example: Mommy and I were supposed to go to California. That would have been nice, cuz I would have been able to see my Auntie Donna and her rambunctious furbaby, my cousin Bentley (who is such a boy sometimes he can be a bit much to take, but we do have a bit of fun... until he gets to be too much), and my Auntie Dani, and her furbaby, my cousin Heaven. Plus we were going to hang out with Grandpa (who likes to make dumb jokes about turning me into the perfect slipper -- he thinks he's so funny!), and then go see Uncle Joe Joe, and drive around in the convertible in 80 degree weather.

Unfortunately, while it's cool that Mom works for an airline so that we can travel a lot, one of the bummers of flying stand-by is that sometimes we end up doing just that: standing by while the plane leaves. And that's what happened this time. So, instead of heading home to see all the people we love, we came home.

The bigger bummer, though, is that Daddy was going out of town this weekend, too, and left to go see some friends for the weekend -- leaving me and Mommy home alone, all by ourselves.

Of course, Mommy loves it. She's taken about 400 naps today and we've watched a ton of movies (or rather, slept through a ton of movies), and she is so content to stay inside (cuz the snow outside from yesterday's storm is pretty bad) that if she were a cat she'd be purring. She took me out for a walk earlier today and practically ran around the block to get us back inside.

I love Mommy, but she is nowhere NEAR as much fun as Daddy is. When Daddy and I stay home alone, sure, we sleep late and take naps sometimes, but we also PLAY. Mommy is very cuddley, but she's not nearly as much fun as Daddy is. Daddy wrestles with me all the time, and he throws the toys for me, and he'll play tug-of-war, and he lets me attack his hands and feet through the blanket (and even sometimes without the blanket), and he growls at me and pounces around... Daddy is FUN.

And I miss him when he isn't here. :-(

Mommy promises that he's coming home tomorrow, though. She says I can't go with her to pick him up (which sucks, cuz I love jumping up on his lap as soon as he gets in the car and giving him a hug), but that she promises he'll be home soon. And knowing my Daddy, he'll play with me as soon as he comes in the door.
