 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: September 10th 2005
Likes: Chasing toys in the back yard! He would fetch for hours. He catches frisbees!

Pet-Peeves: When his foster brother Jordan takes his toy away! Grrowf!

Favorite Toy: Anything you will throw for me! Preferably something chewable....

Favorite Food: Anything! Houston eats 4-5 cups of food a day and several small treats.

Best Tricks: So far: sit. down. we're working on "stay."

Arrival Story: Houston had a chain embedded in his neck, up to an inch deep in the top (OW!). He somehow got loose from the chain and was found by Animal Control. The ACO was very kind and contacted a rescue group to get him outta there before his time was up. Three volunteers managed to pull him from the shelter and transport him to the metro Detroit area for treatment and (eventual!!) adoption. He's heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on shots. He's recovered from surgery quite well and is learning what it means to be a DOG.

Bio: Houston has a great temperament! He was very quiet and patient with the veterinary staff and everyone else he has met. He goes willingly into his crate or a vehicle, rides well, knows sit/down/shake, and walks well on a leash. Houston likes to lean into you for petting, and gives kisses (although not slobbery ones!).

In late May 2007, Houston was adopted by a family with 3 small children and 3 acres in the country. He's a very happy (only) dog, getting lots of attention and exercise. We are so grateful for the Kelly's, and hope they enjoy Houston's company for many many years to come!

Riding down the road, a nice cool breeze, sunshine, ahh man this is the life. Hey we stopped, where are we? What the heck is a Dunkin' Dogs? Oh boy, I hope nobody tries to fill me with jelly and put sprinkles on me.
Huh, that's weird... Why would anyone put a bathtub on top of a big wooden box? Doesn't make any sense to me. What? You aren't serious? You want me to climb those stairs and get in that tub on my own? You're crazy buddy.
What the heck is she doing??? She's going up the stairs herself. Go ahead lady, you get in that tub. I'm not going anywhere... Uh, is that a treat in your hand??? *step, step, step* Oh that's not right, you tricked me.... and why are you now spraying water on me?? Do I look like a Labrador to you? Well at least you're rubbing me and I am starting to smell a little better.
Done? Finally! My pads are starting to prune and if I drink any more water from that sprayer I will most likely explode. Now what... You are going to blow air all over me and brush me? I've got a news-flash for ya! The dog show was last week!

Hey, what's all the racket? HOLY HANNAH, where did those 3 dogs come from??? *sniff* Well, I guess they are ok, they aren't trying to bite me or anything. Hey, you little redhed, come over here! *whistle*
Ahh, how cool, more food already!! *gulp, chomp* Uhh, hey dude, what's with taking my bowl?? I wasn't done with that! You want me to what? Sit? You are kidding right? Oh, how degrading.... ok, but just this once. *plop* Woot!! He's putting the bowl back down. *slurp, chomp, buuuurp* Man I am diggin' this place!
What's that, sure we can go outside. Yeah, it's cool, I don't mind the leash. I prefer to walk right next to you anyways....
Uh, hey buddy, what's with the marathon *pant*? We have been walking for like two blocks already. Whew, home at last. ok, back in the funny wire dog house with the comfy blanket. *snore*
