   Leave a bone for Angel

Angie, Angiepants, Ang, Anger, Girlie

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:
-mutt-pound dog

November 1st 2001

Playing with Ozzie, playing with me, butt rubs, laying on her back, taunting Ozzie when she has a bone (even though he usually doesn't like the bones she has).

When other animals come near her while she has food, when Ozzie eats out of her food bowl, BSL, when I get hurt.

Favorite Toy:
She enjoys playing with her bones, she absolutely loves socks, Tug-o-war toys of any sort, whatever Ozzie has

Favorite Food:
Natural Balance, Merrick Dog Treats

Favorite Walk:
Near water, near trails, places where she can be off leash.

Best Tricks:
Sit down, lie down, shake-a-paw, other paw, jump, stay, come, leave it, get it, high five, ten five, bang! (play dead), kiss & more.

Arrival Story:
We adopted her from the Humane Society on Easter Weekend. Our dog Lucy had passed away a while ago prior to adopting Angel, everyone agreed that they we were ready for another dog. Angel was given into the shelter because the woman who previously owned her was abused by her husband and had to go to a shelter. The shelter didn't allow dogs and the woman didn't want to leave Angel with her husband so took her to the shelter.

Angel truly fits her name. I don't know what I would do without her she's an amazing dog. She's loyal and caring, and one of the most friendliest dogs I have ever met. When I say "Ow" or "Ouch" she comes over and gives me a bunch of kisses. She's truly a beautiful dog, inside and out.

Forums Motto:
The name fits!

Adopt, 2009 Contest Entry

I’ve grown up with dogs and I’ve always loved them. When my dog Lucy died I was stunned. I was extremely sad but mostly stunned and speechless. It was hard to keep back the tears when I thought of her. It really hit me hard and I’d go outside everyday and just sit on the bench and cry. I missed her so much, I felt so…empty.

Eventually the time came when everyone agreed it was time to get another dog. The house had felt so empty and lonely.

I went to my grandparents for the weekend on Easter weekend and we were going back into town on Easter day. I had a hunch that there would be a dog waiting for me when I got home and I was really excited.

When we arrived home I was disappointed to see everyone acting as usual as ever and no dog greeting me at the door. I sighed knowing the time would come soon and decided to get over it for the day, at least. Everyone told me to go to my room, but they said it quite calmly. I expected some kind of Easter surprise but definitely not what I opened my door to find…

I opened my door and looking up at me stood a beautiful GSD/Lab mix. Everyone was behind me waiting to see my reaction, again I was stunned. She was so beautiful and I was so happy. I asked her name and I got the response “Angel”.

Angel has been my best friend since the moment I opened my door. She came home the night before so she was still quite nervous and scared. She laid under a table inside and I sat beside her for hours. We went for a walk that day and of course, I walked her.

Angel has been such an amazing addition to my life. I don’t know what I would do without her. Her bright expressions, attitude and personality always put a smile on my face. I can be in the worst mood and could be having the worst day and she’ll make me totally forget it for a while. When I see her bright, beautiful eyes staring up at me I can’t help but go and cuddle her and give her attention. She’s so friendly and loves giving kisses.

I’m so thankful of the shelter to have given me this amazing girl. Angel has saved me in so many ways and it’s something I’ll always remember. A good friend is so hard to find these days, but I’ve found best friends in both of my dogs.

I love volunteering at the shelter and spending time with the dogs and cats there. They’re dying for attention and someone to love them. Hours fly by while I’m there. It’s my escape. It’s sad to see the dogs and cats there waiting and waiting. Especially when I come back the next time and they’re still waiting. It’s also hard to see specific breeds put off the corner of the kennel area, not available for adoption. It’s hard to see the second chances that are deserved not being given.

I love Angel with all my heart and I couldn’t imagine life without her, life without my best friend.

Your best friend is waiting at your local shelter.

Mom took Ozzie and I to Harper Road today. We had an absolute blast! Ozzie and I both love the snow. He has 9 new pictures on his page and I have a couple, too. We'd appreciate if you'd check them out!

I love just wandering around and climbing around everywhere in the snow, playing with Ozzie and running around with mom. Sure it was cold but it was fun!
