Everytime a Bell Rings......

Yes, I'll accept this precious gift!

I will lend to you for awhile
a puppy, God said,
For you to love him while he lives
and to mourn for him when he is gone.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe for two or three
But will you, till I call him back
take care of him for me?

He’ll bring his charms to gladden you
and (should his stay be brief)
you’ll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise that he will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.

I’ve looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true
And from the folk that crowd life’s land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love
Nor think the labour vain
Nor hate me when I come to take my pup back again.

I fancied that I heard them say
“Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done,”
For all the joys this pup will bring,
the risk of grief you’ll run.
Will you shelter him with tenderness
Will you love him while you may
And for the happiness you’ll know forever grateful stay.

But should I call him back
much sooner than you’ve planned
Please brave the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand.
If, by your love, you’ve managed
my wishes to achieve,
In memory of him that you’ve loved,
cherish every moment with your faithful bundle,
and know he loved you too.

I'm so very sad today! The town I spent my whole life in before coming to the bridge has experienced a major catastrophe! The biggest flood ever to hit Cedar Rapids has completely devastated our city! The floodwaters are receding which is great and people think that means it's almost over.................From what I've seen today, it is far from over!!! There are so many homes and so many beautiful old buildings that have suffered structurally! Many of them will be torn down if they haven't already started to collapse.

There are still pets stuck in homes and the city isn't letting people get into their homes to retrieve them and start the clean up...... We do have animal rescuers here to help get the animals out but now the city is being even tougher about getting into the areas that have been flooded because of safety issues.

I think it has been so surreal until today. Now it's all starting to sink in that this is really happening.

People are even going to jail for trying to get back into their homes!
You know, we have the National Guard and the police and the fire departments all doing such a great job, but I think we're missing the needed counselors or therapists to help the people deal with such a huge tragedy! We don't have enough clergy in this town for the amount of people affected!!

I don't know the answers, I'm just a small pup in this big, big world. I just don't like what I'm seeing in my home town! It is so very, very sad!! Please, Please continue to pray for all the communities that have been affected by Mother Nature's Wrath!!

Mom got a sad phone call today...........

Well, It's been just over a year that I've been at the Bridge. Thanks to all the wonderful Angels and Dogster pals, we made it through that first anniversary with many smiles and only a few tears...............Not that my family doesn't miss me cause they do! It's just that it's so much nicer for them to picture me at the bridge, happy, healthy and young again than it is to remember those last few months of my time on earth..............

Anyway, about that phone call, I'll let Mom tell you about it.

** Mom here ** The last few months of Putter's life the kidney failure was really taking it's toll on his poor little body. I started doing Sub Q Water treatments at home, every other day. During this time, our business, had a card night and many of the people that came were older. There was one of the sweetest, funniest little old men that came in, his name was Arno. I just loved this guy and looked forward to seeing him every week! He was so frail and had to go in regularly for kidney dialysis. Sometimes his balance was really affected by it, as was Putter's. So.......I started to call Putter (in the most endearing terms of course) my little Arno! Well, today I got a phone call that Arno had passed. I know for him, it's a wonderful thing because he is once again with the wife he loves so very much and missed so very much!

So, little Putter, I hope you will run to him and give him a big kiss from me and I know Arno will give you a big kiss from me too! He knows how very much I miss you!

What a great thought, that the two of you are both so happy and healthy again! No more getting stuck with needles and all the problems that come along with it!! sending extra love and kisses to heaven today.....

Thank you Holly Berry and Danni's Mom for posting this.........

The Lord took me in His arms,
He placed me at rainbow bridge.
Under a beautiful Rainbow,
in a valley below the ridge.
He gave me everlasting Life,
and something I truly love.
He made me your Guardian Angel,
so I can watch over you from above.

My little buddy Cisco wrote this for me during my Angel of the Week in Rainbow Bridge Angel Babies and I love it!!

Little Putter, putt-putt-putt
Just an Angel, not a mutt
It was his week, his star did shine
What an honor, can’t wait till it’s mine!
His face so cute, his ears do flop
What will he wear to the Valentine hop
A friend indeed and an artist too
How nice to know a pal like you!

Merry Christmas From The Bridge

For some of us it's our first Christmas at the Rainbow Bridge. Other
pets have been here for many Christmas's.
********************************************************** ***********
It's a bitter sweet time of the year for us here at the Rainbow
Bridge, longing to be with the people we love so much and we know they
miss us too.
We have a tree, beautifully decorated, with treats of every kind.
Popcorn strings, doggie biscuits, kitty treats, seeds, etc. Each of
us made presents to trade.
On Christmas Eve, we gather around the reflecting remembrance pool.
Many of us are waiting for that magical moment when we can go back to
earth and visit our loved ones. You see Christmas Eve is a very
special night when all of our dreams of visiting come true. One by
one, we step into the mist by the pool, and we feel a very strange
sensation. Not of falling, but of floating. We all go in different
directions, north and south, east and west. We are so excited for
that moment and forget about the floating.
When we arrive, it's dark and quiet. We tiptoe into our favorite
persons room and watch them. We sneak up on the bed, to nuzzle our
noses against theirs. We must be very quiet not to wake them, or our
visit is over all to soon. Our person can see us in their dreams and
we see a smile on their face. We whisper that we're fine, and that we
are waiting for them when their time is done on earth.
All of a sudden our visit is over and we're once again back at the
Rainbow bridge. Each one of us is content knowing we made our special
people happy. We have hopes that it made them happy and bring back
all the wonderful memories we shared while together on Earth.

We all want to wish you a Very Merry Christmas from our loving home
at the Rainbow Bridge.

I've been tagged!!

Here are the rules:
Because it’s Thanksgiving time, there is a change to the rules. Each player needs to tell seven special things they are thankful for. Tagged dogs must post the rules in their diary and their 7 things. Then choose 7 pups to tag and list their names. Let them know by pawmail or rosette that they have been tagged and to read your diary for the instructions on how to play.

Seven Things I’m Thankful For:

1. I’m thankful for my Mom and Dad who came and took me away from my first family that didn't really treat me like I deserved!
2. I’m thankful for living with a family who loved me dearly.
3. I’m thankful for Grandma and Grandpa who watched me when mom and dad went on their trips!
4. I’m thankful for my cousin Tony, who let mom bring me home as a baby.
5. I’m thankful my pawrents had the courage to let me go to the bridge when I was so very sick.
6. I’m thankful for my long backyard and sidewalk where I loved to play fetch with my tennis ball!
7. I’m thankful for all my Dogster pals and petloss pals for helping my Mommy adjust to life without me.

Everytime a bell rings an angel gets its wings!

Thanks to a lovely Angel named Joy, I got my wings today! What a very special little guy I am! Don't I look adorable surrounded by other angels!

I've been enjoying my time at Rainbow Bridge since Feb. 9, 2007 and my "earth family" can finally smile when they talk about me. I'm sending them lots of little reminders of me. Of course, I do see my mommy cry sometimes when she thinks of me, but I know that she's happy that I'm not sick anymore. I'm back to my young, happy, healthy self and she can't wait for the time to be right for us to be reunited again!

For now, the two little puppies I helped lead them to are keeping my mommy and daddy busy! I know Dudley and Clarence are helping them to smile and enjoy life and all the precious gifts around them again. How fitting, that they named the two little guys after angels, my mom has always been a HUGE believer in angels and has always surrounded us all with them!

Oh, one last thing, the dogster website and the website that I led my mom to when she was so down has been such a great help to her. She's met some great people and has connected with pet lovers all over the world! I've gotten to meet their babies here at the bridge too!

Gotta go play now! Hugs to everyone and lots and lots of angel kisses!!
