Arrival Story:
My Dad really wanted to get me a dog for my birthday. It was a great thought but I was afraid that I wasn't ready for it financially. The morning after my birthday we left his house, Dad wouldn't tell me where we were going. Not surprisingly we wound up at Petsmart on Adoption Day. I still didn't want a dog! I could barely afford to feed myself! But being a dog lover, I wanted to go look at the doggies. I walked and went straight for a little dog named Sylvia. She was black and tan and had the most unruly hair you could imagine. But there was something very sweet and cute about this scruffy little terrier mix. She was obviously very nervous and when I picked her up, she looked at me with the Princess Di eyes, licked my nose, laid her head on my shoulder and sighed. I didn't know it yet, but that was it, she was my dog. But I still wasn't convinced that could afford the dog AND rent and other trivial little things like food and electricity. We walked around for a while, we looked at other dogs but I refused to set Sylvia down for fear someone else would see what a wonderful little creature she was and snatch her away from me. I finally realized that she was my canine soulmate and I would just have to make it work. And I did. Happiest day ever. Of course her name wasn't really Sylvia, especially since I had a friend named Sylvia. Her name was Cleo. Cleo loves me, I love her. It was a match made in Doggy Heaven!
