Arrival Story: Someone at work found out about a free litter of puppies and we drove to Isanti to see if we wanted one. She was cute, kind of timid and cuddled right away and we couldn't leave without her.

Bio: In 2003, Mackenzie went through two cancer surgeries to remove a mast cell tumor. When she recovered from the second surgery, she tore her ACL playing frisbee the day she was given a clean bill of health. A week later, she had TPLO surgery (that's dog surgery for a torn ACL in the knee) and while she isn't completely the same, she can still run around and play without too much trouble.
In January 2008, she tore her other ACL so she had TPLO surgery again at the University of Minnesota Vet School. We had the best surgeon and she recovered more quickly than the first time. She was fully recovered by April 2008. Amazing!
Mackenzie passed away at the U of MN Vet ER on April 19, 2009. She had a tumor that burst and caused her to bleed internally. We took her to the ER and were able to be with her when her life ended. It was very sad. I'm still sad. She was a great companion and will be greatly missed.
