Likes:
Wolfie most likes to be with me. Though he does forget I even exist when we take him for long walks along the river.

Pet-Peeves:
He hates loud startling noises, trips to the vet and sharing bones.

Favorite Toy:
Any stick, pile of snow or any grassy dirt that may be home to a bug or worm

Favorite Food:
Yogurt, carrots, beef jerkey, cheese, liver, peanut butter - he really likes just about anything.

Favorite Walk:
Along the Penobscot River - he loves to walk just off shore and splash the water and bite it as he walks along, attacking any loose sticks that may float by or on shore

Best Tricks:
Impersonations - specifically an Alkaida Devil Dog or Dancing with the Devil Dog he also invented "Tub Ball" - throws a ball in the tub while I'm taking a shower so I can throw it and have him retrieve it.

Arrival Story:
I lived in Manhattan and was thinking about getting a second dog to keep my Gigi company while I was at work. One day on our way to the park, Gigi and I came across Wolfie who was loose and standing on the steps outside an apartment complex with no one in sight. He didn't have a collar on, but a yellow plastic rope around his neck which was also used as his lead. We went up to him cautiously, and he took to us right away. I waited for about 5 minutes, and finally a man came out of the building. I aked him if this was his dog, and he said I should take him if I want him. Well, my plan was to find a good home for him, not knowing how well he'd get along with Gigi and our routine. Needless to say, by the time I got him neutered and a clean bill of health, it was all over. About a year later, after he was fully trained and been given a full bill of health by a vet, many of the people I asked initially, including my dog walker, asked if I was still looking for a home for him. "Nope, I've fallen hopelessly in love" was my reply, as by that time, I sure had. He's one of a kind and I thank my lucky stars every day that we found eachother.

Bio:
It was my plan to move to the country and out of NYC one day, particularly as both Gigi and Wolfie weren't getting any younger, and I wanted to give them what they always wanted and never had, the opportunity to run around in a yard and just lie in the sun and grass whenever they felt like it. I also wanted Wolfie to have the chance to be in the snow more, as he loves it so much. About a year and a half ago I moved to Maine, the wilde back woods, and now Wolfie gets to live out his fantasy. Unfortunately, we lost Gigi to cancer a year ago February, but I'm so glad I lived in the country by then as in Maine you can bring your dog home and bury them in the yard, so Wolfie and I still feel that she is near, and it's comforting. Now he has a new sister, Killian. They love one another and are real buddies, though sometimes I think Wolfie would like to wear the pants for a change, but he never pushed the issue. One other thing to add, this dog is a natural healer. He's the perfect companion for a shaman. I have been known to use him in this regard on occasion. By this I mean that Wolfie has a talent for sniffing out illness or ailments in humans as well as in other animals. And once detected, it is virtually impossible to prevent him from "licking the boo-boo". In some cultures dog saliva is considered the most medicinal substance on earth. He does this with such focus and intent, he has a natural gift for locating all sorts of maladies. And once found, does everything in his power to heal them. I have only hear about dogs used in this unconventional way once or twice. I would love to hear from anyone who knows about the use of dogs as healers.
