This poem was written by my mum to Benson, not long after he died. Even after 9 long years without him, i still cant read it without getting upet. xxxx
Benson my friend, I miss you so,
I feel so sad that you had to go,
I miss your welcome at the door,
And rolling around on the living room floor.
You brought me so much happiness and joy,
You always fetched me your favourite toy,
You grovelled and waved and begged for a sweet,
You’d do almost anything for a choc or treat.
Welcoming visitors you were very good at,
You even accepted Jaffa the mad cat,
A cold nose and a lick on the hand,
A paw on my lap you looked so grand.
No busy, no wee wees on a mamma’s floor,
A praise and a pat on the head and you’d give me a paw,
Walks on the field and on the canal,
How I miss you my little pal.
You began to get poorly and couldn’t walk far,
So off to the vets you went in the car,
The vet couldn’t do anything so she put you to sleep
Now all I ever seem to do is weep.
Your ashes will be scattered with sadness and love,
Youll be carried to Heaven on the wings of a dove,
Ill never forget you, Benson, not ever,
Youre etched in my mind and memories forever,
So goodbye and god bless my darling Ben,
Until we meet up together again.
