Arrival Story:
I had wanted a little Maltese for a really long time, but just having moved it was a little out of the question. Then, for my boyfriend and my combined birthday and Christmas presents, his family gave her to us. They went to visit her and pick her out at 2 weeks and took photographs. Then gave us the pictures of the photographs in a nice frame as our present to let us know when she was going to be ready to pick up - they told us she was a Morkie (Maltese mom, Yorkie dad - i'd never heard of it before) and it was perfect, i had wanted a Maltese but i love the darker colour of the Yorkie. We waited 3 loooooong weeks and then his parents drove with us to pick her up. The breeder came out holding this little tiny shivering ball of fur and i was completely in love. she was definitely the most adorable little thing i'd ever seen. She was the best gift we have ever received.

Bio:
Everything is always about her. she's adorable and she knows it. She is very smart - which can be a good thing and a bad! she loves to try to get out into the hall of our apartment and run around. Her favourite games are sweeping and lint roller. she goes nuts and trie s to attack the broom and lint roller.

Paddington: an adventure with a dog

Seeing as this is my first entry, i'll introduce myself. My name is Liz and my puppy is Paddington, an 8 month old female Morkie. I am not going to write this diary from her perspective, because i'm not the biggest fan of that.

I'm going to use this to keep track of her achievements as well as to share in the trials and tribulations of raising a Morkie. She is high spirited and has just recently found her very loud voice, which she is choosing to use quite often, to our dismay. At the moment, she can sit, lie down and do "watch me", but only when she feels she wants to. She doesn't listen very well and likes to growl and bark at me to try to get me to play.

At her age, i believe she has discovered her freedom and is trying to push myself and my boyfriend to see what she can get away with. A friend was talking to me about the "regression" phase, where the puppy decides to "forget" what she's learned and stop listening. We are experiencing this at the moment. To get through this little bump, i'm going to try to train with her every day and be as patient as possible.

This diary is not only for my keeping track, but hopefully it will help other dog owners out there who might be experiencing something similar with their dog.
