Goodbye Lady

You were an amazing dog. Always full of happiness and strength. I will always miss you. You taught me so much about being a good person. I hope I helped you in life just a fraction as much as you helped me.

Great, more tumors in the house

Just a few months after Bliss passed away from gallbladder cancer, Lady develops a tumor on her breast (I guess that's the proper dog word for it). We're keeping an eye on it now, the vet said he'd probably just leave it be if it's not malignant. Since Lady is somewhere between the age of 10 to 10,000, we're not really jumping at the idea of putting her under for surgery if it's not necessary. He said it's about a 50/50 chance that it is malignant but the tumor is still pretty small so prognosis seems pretty good. Hopefully it is nothing but at least it is good to hear that even if the tumor is cancerous, Lady has a good chance at being okay.

I just have no idea what I'd do without Lady. You just can't ask for a better dog. She's never aggressive or destructive (except for that one time my buddy picked her up without letting her know...but that was funny, he had it coming). She always behaves herself, minds the other dogs. Lady just has this aura of calmness. She's super friendly, loves everyone. She makes me smile all of the time. I just can't lose her. Not yet. She might be godonlyknows how old but she's still very energetic and happy. I just love her so much.

Return of the potty problems

Yep, the infection...or whatever...came back. We got medication again but it didn't even touch the problems this time. My roommate has Lady at the vet's office right now. Cross your fingers and hope for the best. :)

Lady's cheating on me!

I think Lady's having an relationship with my neighbor. She keeps petting Lady when she walks by and the other day, she gave Lady some Doritos. At the dog park, Lady always tries to run away with other people.

But I learned the coolest things about Lady:
1) She's ticklish under her front legs
2) She hates being sniffed

Peein' good!

Lady is finally feeling a bit better. We took her on a walk in the Kanawha State Forest 2 days ago and she was much better. She only stopped to pee about 5 times, bol. I'm glad she is doing better though. I couldn't deal with Lady having cancer.

I don't want to admit that I couldn't afford treatment so I guess I would just have to find a way to afford it. Thankfully, I'm in graduate school so I can take out huge amounts of student loans. LOL, silly government thinking I can pay it back one day. But we're doing well here, so I hope it was just a random thing.

I'll do anything for Lady, she's my old sage. She keeps my sane when I'm super stressed out. I hate to say she's my best friend but she's pretty close.

Peeing problems

Lady's got some serious bathroom issues. We took her to the vet today (our second visit in less than 24 hours) after she left a *huge* blood + piddle puddle in the kitchen floor. The vet thinks she either has a urinary tract infection or she passed a kidney stone. Hee-hee, my roommate had a kidney stone once, they can be stone buddies.

Then the vet went and scared the crap out of me. He said that if Lady's still having trouble, we gotta do a test for cancer. :( I'm hoping she just has an infection though. I feel for her, stinks when you gotta pee all the time.

Feelin' old and grumpy

Lady has been less active lately, basically meaning that she's lying around in a comatose state for most of the day. She's never really been an active dog, not by any stretch of the imagination. She's fine when we go on walks, no sign of sickness. I think she's just feeling old and grumpy. Food still motivates her though! :D

Bathtime blues

Today was bath day for Lady and Lollipop. I didn't give Cinnamon a bath because she is suffering from a sore ear. Lady really hates bath day and this time was no different. I ended up brushing like 4 huge wads of dead fur from her though. I'm really thinking about getting one of those Bamboo fur eliminator things, if it works well, I might drop the extra money for the furminators.

Lady smells worse than she did before her bath, lol. She's not a big fan of blow dryers so it takes awhile to hand dry her. She's always so soft after a bath though. I put some oatmeal infused water on her after the bath. The girls don't have fleas but sometimes they get a bit itchy. I'm hoping the oatmeal water helped. I'm going to get them some oatmeal shampoo when I'm done with the bottle we have now. It smells terrible!

Like normal, no one wants to talk to me after the bath. But that's fine, they don't get to share my Chinese delivery. :D

Weird noises

Well, we're still letting Lady sleep with us. I forgot how great it is to love on some Lady before falling asleep. Sadly, I'm insanely allergic to dog fur, lol. I break out into hives every time one of the girls licks me...so I've been having some interesting nights. It got really bad a few nights ago. The breakout started in the middle of my back and slowly went down my body. I must have scratched for over an hour. I don't really mind though. I don't think I would ever have a house without dogs, even if I get itchy around them.

But this isn't about me! Lady is such a weird girl. Lady has always made funny noises when she breathes. I guess it's just bothering me more now that she's been in the bedroom though. I guess it is sort of a snoring sound but it's way stranger. lol, you know that weird wheezing sound that happens sometimes when you have a boogie in your nose? Yeah, it's like that. It's no big deal, she's always made that sound. It's just going to take some time to get used to that sound in my ear again.

Other than that, it's been great. It's good being alpha doggy.

Snuggles!

I've started cracking on the rule about no dogs in the carpeted rooms and have started letting Lady come sleep with us. She won't stay on the bed while we're asleep but she sure loves to snuggle when we first lay down. :o And she's started doing something new, she'll roll onto her back and let us rub her tummy. We've had her for 7 years and she's only started doing it this week!
