Ode to my sister Maxi for Sat March 26th

It has been a year since you have been gone
I saw mom cry today
I know she she misses you oh so much
Each and every day
She glances up at the your photo
that is up upon the wall
She thinks no one is looking
then she walks away so tall
She then pets my on my head and says
I know you miss her too
Things are not the same around here
Together we can be blue

Jake, her son, will turn 8 that day
So for him she said she will try to smile
but behind the face of happiness
She is sad and full of sorrow
For you, Maxi, were her first dog
Something she had wanted since she was very small
A dog to call her very own
She would have taken them all

So 365 days since you have been gone
We have never stopped counting the days
We hope you are happy and running again
In and under the rainbows that you play
So to my sister, I love you so
And miss you with all my heart
I am thankful for the time we had
And so sorry when you had to part
With all of us here on Earth
Golden wags and your own special smile

Mom made an ooops

So Kona and Halo were stinky and mom took them to get baths. She was trying to leave, to take our little non furry kid to the movies. When she called the groomer she said "Can you tell me when Maxi and Kona will be ready ?" Jake looked at mom, with big brown eyes and then mom got sad and said quickly oh noooooo when she got off the phone she ran and hid in the bathroom so no one could see how upset she was OOPPS mom

Adopt 2010 contest

The day was late August and it was a very hot day in the city of Las Vegas Nevada just north of the infamous strip hotels. I was running around a neighborhood dirty, hungry, and just no where to go. A nice lady felt bad and saw me and called the police department. She said I was a very skinny, dirty golden retriever trying to get into garbage pails. Rich, the nice animal control officer came out and picked me up. He called and said he would be on his way to the police department dispatch because they HAD to see me. I was female about 1 yr old and was maybe 50 pounds. I was a big head and you could see my ribs. I was dirty and on the street for a long time. Mommy looks at me and everyone told her she needed to take me. Hmmm a surprise for daddy. He may throw me and my new mom out of the house. So mom said she would take me. YEAY a home !!!
Hopefully a forever home !

Mom always said she would love to know my story, where I came from, what happened to my original home, who would give up a beautiful pure bred golden. Well she put me in the back of her toyota camry and left work for our trip home. I sat in the back and rested my head gently on her shoulder. She started to cry and say look I hope you are not cujo thought I doubt you have a mean bone in your body. She got home and told me to wait in the car. Daddy was sleeping (LOL), mom walked in and made him get out of bed to see what awaited in her car. He looked at me and said "what is that?". Mom replied,"UM..thats a dog." "whose dog is that and how did it get in your car?" So mommy told him the story and that I would be part of our family. Mommy would have taken every stray if she could but was happy dad said ok. I had a kitty for a furry brother and a 1 yr old BOY to play with. Dad took me to the vet the next day and got the thumbs up. Dad said it was a conspiracy because the vet only talked highly of me and goldens as a breed(she has one too) .

Mom went to work the next day and dad took me and the boy for a walk. The boy ran in the street and I gently pulled away from dad. I put my nose to the boys tummy and side steps him back to the side walk so he would not get hurt. Daddy was so amazed he called mom and said ok, she is a keeper. The family had me for almost 10 years and I loved my home. I ended up with 2 non furry brothers and a furry sister who is an australian shephard who just turned 4.

On march 26th, The family unfortunately had to put me to rest. They found a large tumor on my heart which was stopping blood flow to my legs. I could not stand any more. Mommy sobbed for 2 days knowing what was going to happen and on the littlest humans birthday (march 26,2010) he brought me a cupcake he had had at school. I ate it and then went to sleep getting my Halo and my Wings. I had the best life anyone could imagine. This weekend the family adopted a 10 month old german shepherd puppy and named her Halo. They got her because I got my wings and halo. Mommy said she is not me but found a place in her heart for her.

The end

The end is near and unfortunately way to close
I sit and wait until I become a ghost
To the rainbow bridge as others before
I will take my wings and fly once more
Mom is sad but knows it the right thing to do
She worried about Kona, who is also sad too
I will see my friends Remo and Jake
And wait for mom as long as it takes
So thank you friends for all you have done
To make my journey an easy one

Mom says RIP Maxi you were the best
and will love you forever...and then some

New years

New year's time is here again
how did it go so fast for the year to end
We lost some friends we miss them so
To the rainbow bridge they had to go
But we all know we'll meet again
It will seem like we were always friends

So lets hope for a happy new year
where wealth and smiles are quite near
This was a rough year and happy its done
The year is over lets have some fun !

So to the next year of smiles the whole year through
A very happy and healthy new year to all of you
So goodbye 2009, the memories will be there
And onto new ones for anyone who cares

So we love you all our dear doggie friends
We will cherish all of you until the end
so with this we end a happy new year
Lets raise a bone and hope that cheer
will find us all and hold up tight

AND HELP WITH SOME FRIENDS ALL FURRY AND YELLOW
TO HELP RELIEVE STRESS FROM THIS OL' BIG FELLOW
SO MAXI DID THAT, SHE GAVE A BIG YELP
AND CALLED ON HER DOGSTER FRIENDS TO GIVE SANTA HELP.

SHE CALLED THE PAHRUMP PACK, AND LUCY AND NICK TOO
LET'S GET A GROUP TOGETHER, SANTA DOESNT KNOW WHAT TO DO
BY THE TIME THEY WERE DONE THEY HAD QUITE A GROUP
ANNIE, TROOPER,CHUPPY, AND TEDDY, A BIG YELLOW SOUP.

AND WE MET ALL OF OUR DOGSTER FRIENDS FROM FAR AND WIDE
NOT A BAD GIG TO BE ON SANTA CLAUS'S SIDE

THEN UNFORTUNATELY IT ALL CAME TO AN END
IT SEEMED LIKE A DREAM WITH ALL OF MY FRIENDS
AN EXTRA SPECIAL TREAT WE GOT FROM SANTA
FOR HELPING HIM IN SUCH A SERIOUS MATTER

WE TOLD HIM NO PROBLEM AND GOT A LIFT HOME
WHAT A STORY TO TELL WHEREVER WE ROAM
OF THE NIGHT WE BECAME SUBSTITUTES FOR THE FAMOUS DEER
GOLDEN RETRIEVERS ROCK SANTA SAID WITH A CHEER

Park

On friday, I had a wierd day. Mom told me to get in the car but Kona was not going. The 10 yr old was not going, dad was going somewhere else and it was me, the 6 yr old and mommy. They kept saying the park but I thought they were tricking me and going to the vet instead. We turned the corner and there was this HUGE park and kdis everywhere, playing soccer and baseball. Then the reason I went was to meet Jake's best friends new dog.... a golden retriever named Lucky. Well he used to be Eldon thru the rescue group and the family decided to name him Lucky bc he was lucky to have a new home. He was big but I ran up and immediately knew we would be friends. A little sniffing, a little licking, I guess he liked me so much he chew through his leash just to come see me. It was fun but mom said I went into COW MODE and ate grass the whole time, she said if I didnt stop there would be no grass for the kids to play on. Kona was mad when I got home and I guess cried at the garage door for awhile. Maybe she will go next time but mom said it was just her and was not watching the future soccer star, me and kona. I will enjoy the peace and quiet next friday afternoon. On a different note finally 80 degrees here, hot has gone away have a good day

Finally Fall

Yes thats right, it is finally fall in the desert of nevada. It has been so hot until this time. We were wondering if the world was coming to an end because we could not get below 100 degrees every day. Well, we woke up the other day and it was COLD and WINDY. They expect our winds to be 40-50 mph. I will have to hold onto Kona so we both dont blow away. I love this weather I could sit outside all night enjoying the air, except for the large objects flying through the backyard due to the wind so maybe tomorrow night.
Our human boys best friend is trying out a golden retriever. They have been wanting to get one and finally got the call 3 weeks ago now to take a test run of a 5 yr old male golden which they have since named Lucky. They get to see if it works out with Benson, their very old and greying doxie dog. So far they get along great. Mom says he seems to be very mellow and love getting his head pet, and if you stop he lets you know he was not finished yet. Mom says he is huge compared to me and his head is 2x my size. I think next friday I get to have a play date and go to the park to meet him. Soccer practice with alot of kids and a new doggie friend what could be better.
