Arrival Story:
We went to go look at a chihuahua for Dan's mom. We thought that there was only the one male, but when we got there, there were two left, the male and a female. We were about to leave, and the female looked so sad and lonely, Barb (Dan's mom) asked me if I wanted her. I didn't think she was serious, but she was! So we took Marlie home to meet her new sister, Addley. They were both so excited! Plus she still gets to see her brother too!

Bio:
I am all about being in your face and giving you kissies! You find a good spot to sit...and I will be in your lap in just seconds. I LOVE to cuddle! I do enjoy playing with my sister, Addley...but she is so much faster than me...sometimes it isn't any fun. But I love her just the same. I sometimes growl at the vet when they take my temp, but am easily bribed with treats there. I am learning to walk so nicely on my harness and leash (you should have seen me the first time I was on one...I actually escaped out of it by wiggling! Luckily we were just practicing inside...but I think mommy was worried for a while about that). As far as chihuahuas go...the vet and vet techs at my clinic say that I am a super good chihuahua and they all know me and Addley by name and have to come and hold us before we go! And, no, not because I have been there a billion times this week either! :)

Mommy had fun taking my picture yesterday. She was so pleased that I sat so pretty for her and posed! She wants to get a nice frame so she can proudly display mine and Addley's pictures. I can't wait! It will look so nice!

You can see some of my new pictures on my page too...I love the one of me and daddy...I want to give him kissies!

I also got to go to work with mommy and Addley...it was a blast! I know that momma wishes she can take me everyday...and so do I!!! Too bad it can't happen :( A gal can wish though, right?!?!

Barks and kisses,
Marlie

My mom, Addley and I went to the vet today to see the progress on my eye ulcer and to remove my spay stitches. Mom was a little embarassed because I got a little growlie with the doctor when they were taking stitches out...and when they brought me back to her...I was wearing a muzzle! (Well, how would YOU feel if you had been to the doctor 4 times in less than a week!!!)

But they understood because of all of the yuckies I have been through lately. They say that I am normally a very happy Chihuahua, and even gave me a treat! Yum :)

Good news though...my ulcer is very much smaller! I think mommy almost cried when she saw how small it had gotten! I know that she was definately suprised anyway...I haven't let her put too much of that icky cream in my eye...I have had enough of people messing with it! But to be nice, when we got home...I did let her put some in there. I know it isn't going to be better with out it...so I thought I would be nice :)

I hope warmer weather is on the way...I want to get ready and condition for the Walk for Animals in May!

Cheer me on everyone!

Barks and kisses!

Eye ulcers?!?! Chihuahuas beware!

I have an eye ulcer!!!! And it HURTS!!!!!!!! The even badder part to that is the eye medicine that I got from the vet makes me throw up. So I have been to the doctor 4 times in less than a week. Bummer...I don't like it. Plus I have to wear a cone because I keep insisting on itching my eye, which hurts and then I cry and whine. :(

Well, on Saturday I go back (again!) to get my stitches out from my spay and a recheck on my eye. Hopefully I will be ok. The new medicine that they have me on doens't make me sick...but it still isn't any fun gettin the medicine put in there.

The nice doctor told us that Chihuahuas are more prone to eye ulcers because our eyes are so big (and beautiful! :) And they can get pretty bad. If they don't get taken care of they can turn into melting ulcers that will eat away at the cornia. So BE CAREFUL!!!! If your eye hurts go and get it checked out right away! They were telling us that there was another dog there just a few days before us with a similar problem and they had to send him to the emergency vet to get it taken care of. My mom tried to find out if they had to have it removed...but they hadn't gotten an update yet.

Just as a warning, here are what my symptoms were:
* extra teary eye
* swollen or not open eye (I wanted to keep it closed because it felt better that way)
* the white part was red and blood shot looking

I just thought I would warn you!

Barks and Kisses~
