Arrival Story:
AJ's mom here: AJ was found in a 4x4 pen in the back yard of some girl with 4 children. AJ was matted from head to toe and covered in fleas. My daughter and me took AJ away from the girl and informed her that we were going to report her to the local authorities if she tried to stop us. The first 2 days of having AJ, she was taken to the vet and had to treated for malnutrition. She was then she was taken to a groomer where she had to be completely shaven. AJ was kind of on the shy side at first with the Cocker that was in my home at the time. Soon they (AJ & Crystal) became playmates. In March 2000, Crystal died of cancer and then in that same year Philip and I met. We married in February 2001 and introduced AJ to the 2 huskies ( Rustie & Lexie) that Philip had. AJ was diagnosed with cancer in the latter part of 2001. She lived a full life with the huskies and even helped welcome Abby and Bandit in to our home. AJ loved Rustie and Rustie became her protector and named AJ a honorary husky. The night that AJ became deathly ill, Rustie stayed by her side in our closet and mothered her until she breathed her last breathe the next morning. AJ was not a big fan of men in general but she waited for Philip to return home from work to cross the Bridge. That was in mid June 2003.

The Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
