I still remember the day Oso came into our life...I had wanted to get his brother but my husband wanted Oso, I don't remember what it was that had swayed my decision and decide to take Oso home instead but I will never regret taking Oso home and making him a part of our lives. We brought him home in January and had him bundled inside a blanket, everyone who saw him said he was the most adorable thing ( we agreed). Once home he quickly set up camp and took to beating up our two cats Kazi and Kanina. He ate like there was no tomorrow, played like a wild horse, and slept like a hibernating bear. He was the little apple of our eyes.He was my husbands cuddle buddy, my daughters best friend and playmate, and my guardian. Everyone who met him fell in love with his zest for life. One of the things Oso really enjoyed was playing with our friends Shnauzer Spike...the two would chase eachother, play tug o war, and wrestle whenever they were around eachother. One day when Oso was about 3 or 4 months Old I took him over to my friends house to play with Spike and the new mixed breed puppy they got...the puppy was terrified of Oso so he just hid under the couch and Spike and Oso just played together instead as it got late I took Oso back home. Three days later my friend told me the puppy had died, I didn't think too much of it. Oso the day earlier had started acting a little lethargic but I wasn't too concerned because he was still eating. The next day Oso quit eating and started vomiting...so I took him to the Vet and he tested positive for Parvo...I was so devasted when I had to leave Oso there at the hospital and when I called my friend to tell her about it she told me that she found Spike dead that morning and tried to call me but I had already gone to the hospital. It turned out the puppy she got had parvo and gave it to both Spike and Oso but she didn't realize it until Spike threw up the night before and that morning she found him dead before she could take him to the Vet. Luckily for us Oso pulled through like a champ and was back to his old zesty self in no time...but it was obvious that he missed Spike...Everyday on our daily walk we would pass the Pet store that I got all of Oso's food and supplies from and they had three Golden Retriver puppies for sale....I took Oso inside and the puppies climbed on him, nibbled him and were all so cute but there was only one that caught my eye...the male with the black speck on his eye. I dragged Oso out and went home to tell my husband all about the puppy but my husband told me that we couldn't get another dog because he didn't want to risk Oso getting sick again because of another unhealthy puppy and told me to keep Oso away from the pet store....but everyday me and Oso stopped by to play with those puppies and we started calling our favorite pup Kebo. Soon the other two puppies were adopted except for Kebo...and for weeks Kebo was alone and not getting a home of his own....so I again went and told my husband about Kebo and told him surely by now if Kebo was a sick puppy I would have noticed something but he seemed healthy so my husband finally let me bring Kebo home.Kebo and Oso were best buds and did everything together....but two months after we got Kebo I took Oso out with me to run errands and he suddenly collapsed and I had to carry his almost 100# butt back home....My husband came home and we rushed Oso to the hospital, they did an Xray on his back legs and hips (we thought he collapsed due to hip displasia) but the xrays came back clear and the vets couldn't figure out why our beloved Oso could not get up and why he had so much pain in his back legs....they put him on pain meds and just told us maybe he would get back up on his own.Two weeks later Oso was only getting worse and even he seemed very upset and confused why he could move he seemed disorientated all the time. We could no longer sit and watch him suffer and made the very hard and heartbreaking decision to put him down......when that day came we had the Vet come to our home and I held Oso in my lap and just before he left us he licked my face and I knew he was going to a better place....
