Arrival Story:
We had a greyhound, and were volunteering with a greyhound rescue group. One of the fundraisers was to go to the dog races in Tijuana, Mexico (part of the American Racing Circuit) to see the kennels we help maintain for the dogs that are retired from racing. At the kennel, we saw a really pretty, dark-brindle greyhound who was hiding under the one and only tree. The rest of the dogs were running around trying to get everyone to pet them, and she was hiding. We managed to coax her out, and put her on my mom's lap, and the dog relaxed as if to say I am finally safe. We fell in love with her, and wanted to bring her home with us right away. The only problems were that we were on a luxury bus that was brand new, and didn't know if the bus driver would let us bring a dog on the bus and we didn't know if she would be cat safe (we have 3 cats). We took her into one of the puppy kennels and put her in with a puppy and she was very tolerant of it, so we figured that she would be okay with the cats. The bus driver also relented and said that as long as she didn't go to the bathroom on the bus, we could bring her. So on the bus she went at the end of the day, although she didn't touch the ground much, as everyone wanted to hold her. Once we got her home, and gave her about 3 baths, she settled right in with the cats and our first greyhound. She was still very shy, but with love and patience, she came to love people and will willing go up to them on our walks for loving.

Hello

Hello, I am a 9-1/2 year old retired racing greyhound. My name is Cambria, but everyone calls me Camie. I don't do much but sleep most of the time, and go out for an walk twice a day. I will sometimes give my cats a good ear cleaning, but that is mostly it for my day.

I know that I will get some treats soon, so I am sleeping until it is time for them.

Bye for now,
Camie
