Arrival Story:
We purchased Brinlee from the same pet store we got her brother Zeke at. We just got married and were moving into our own house and we wanted Zeke to have a sister. Brinlee picked us out. She had just came to the pet store with her two sisters and she was very scared of the big dogs. When we went into the puppy room she immediately came to me and wanted me to hold her. We left and came back two days later and she was still there scared as could be. We took her home with us and nursed her though a nasty case of kennel cough, which she also gave to her brother. We were in and out of hospitals for a few months, but both puppies have recovered fully.

and what did I get? NUTHIN!!! Mommy and Dada have been so busy, they haven't had time to plan a party for me or even get me any ice cream. I'm pouting around hoping they will get the hint. How could anybody ignore a princess like me's birthday?

Had to take my dumb brother to the vet

So my dumb brother Zeke had to go to the vet today. Since I don't like to be home alone, I had to go. That means riding in the car. I hate riding in the car. So I told Zeke that we were taking him to the vet and leaving him there. No such luck. He got two shots and some pills and mommy babied him. What did I get? A return trip home in the car. It's so unfair!

Very sad story about a hero and his lost dog

A local Marine in our area was killed in a car accident traveling back to duty after visiting his family for Easter. His dog, who always travels with him, survived, but ran off as rescuers arrived. If anyone in the Central PA area sees Apollo, please call the numbers listed in the story below. A picture of Apollo can be seen on www.altoonamirror.com or www.centredaily.com

Please keep Sgt. Woodruff's family in your prayers and also pray for the return of Apollo, who means so much to the family.

The search continued Thursday for a Marine's dog who survived a vehicle crash that claimed his master's life.

Sgt. Hamilton Taylor Woodruff, 23, of State College died Tuesday at Altoona Regional Trauma Center.

Woodruff and his German shepherd, Apollo, were traveling south on Interstate 99 about 6:10 a.m. Monday when Woodruff's vehicle drifted off the road and went over a mound in a median and down a 45-foot embankment before landing on Mountain Road, state police said.

Apollo, apparently uninjured, was seen on Mountain Road Monday morning by firefighters, Freedom Township Assistant Police Chief Terry Dellinger said.

The dog was spotted again Wednesday night about 500 yards from the crash site but went back into a wooded area, Dellinger said. A helicopter flew over the area Thursday while family, friends and other volunteers continued a ground search.

People with information about the dog have been asked to call Hollidaysburg State Police Trooper Kenneth Benton at 696-6100 or Mount Nittany United Methodist Church at 237-3549.

Because of Woodruff's death, the State College SAM Dance 4 Singles scheduled for Saturday is cancelled at Mount Nittany United Methodist Church in State College, a spokesman for the church's single adult ministry said Thursday. Woodruff's father, Howard, is pastor of the church.
