Holiday times!

Hi all. Sorry it has been a while since I last wrote. There have been lots of social events lately, so I have not been around home as much. I have gone on mountain trips over the summer and lots of long walks in the fall. Now it is a bit chilly out, and I am spending more time indoors. The treats and the games of indoor fetch really help pass the time though. I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. I also wanted to thank the members of the Schnauzers Rule group. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming since the moment I joined. Thanks so much; your kindness is really appreciated!!!! I really enjoy getting to know all the other pups out there in the world.

Stuffed squirrels are the best!

So Shakes just wanted to give a shout out for the people at plush puppies. They make very cool toys that make pups think. Shakes' favorite is a mini tree stump with stuffed squirrels. Sadly, the three stuffed squirrels were much loved (read: quickly destroyed from so much chewing, tossing, hiding, etc...), but GUESS WHAT??? Replacement squirrels come in packs of 3! Shakes is taking turns chewing a bully stick and lovingly chomping on his fresh new stuffed squirrel to celebrate!

Love the mountains!!!

So Shakespeare wanted to write quickly to tell everyone how much he loves the mountains; the freedom, the new and exciting smells, the other animals (chipmunkes are so fascinating), and all the sounds. Shakespeare spent time in Breckenridge with his pals Frankie and Oscar. He loved it. The only down point was when people decided he should swim in the stream...apparently a stream is just a giant bath to Shakes :-(

Shakes hates baths!

It is official. Shakespeare hates baths! I am sure somewhere deep down he knows people like his clean, fresh scent and how he feels soft and fuzzy, but I believe the only thing he can think of during bathtime is how to escape the evil bathtub. I am sure if the walls were not so slippery or if he were big enough to hop out of the tub, he would never be clean again.

The good news is that dreaded bathtime is over for the next few weeks though.

I love the summer!

So, this weekend was great. I got to play with other pup pals and then I went to a pet fair. There were so many dogs there....it was so very exciting. I got some new treats and toys too. One is a cool toy that can be filled with water and then chewed outside; water will seep out. It will be a great way to stay cool on the really hot days. The only down part of the weekend was going to the vet and having to get 4 shots...ouch :-(

Summer is finally here

Sorry I have been absent for so long. With all the outdoor activities of attending softball games, farmers' markets, and learning to behave off a leash, there just seems to be so little time to write in my diary! All is well with me though; just enjoying some bully sticks and meeting all the other dogs in the neigborhood. I also got to attend Bow Wow Vows; it was a big doggie wedding in Littleton. It broke the world record for the largest canine wedding. It was really hot, but there were so many lovely and wonderful dogs to meet (aka sniff). It was great!!

I am looking forward to spending lots of time outside. I love to run and chase balls and then take a nice nap! Talk to you all soon!

New and exciting

Shakespeare thought he would take a mintue to say hello and point out all the new and exciting developments in his life. He has greatly enjoyed the warmer weather and getting to be outside more often. He also discovered some cool new treats - chicken breast wrapped around rawhide is a new favorite. He also found two cool new toys - one is a big ball that has all sorts of little stuffed balls in it...so fun to chase the balls around the house...and the other is a rubber stuffable artichoke. Yep, all is pretty well for Shakes these days :-)

Weekends are the best

Shakespeare just wanted to take a quick moment out of his busy weekend to update folks on his comings and goings. For the most part, life has been chill as usually, but with the nicer weather there have been more walks. Plus, for the first time, he went to a friend's and got to run around in an enclosed backyard all on his own. He loves the sweet taste of freedom.

So far so good

Shakes apologizes for not writing sooner. Between birthday excitement and hanging out with his puppy pals this weekend, he has not had a free momemt. He keeps telling all his friends about how great dogster is in the hopes they will sign up and he can have pup pals. As soon as Nibblet, Zizu, Tope, Oscar, Woody, Frankie, and Dessie make it online, he is going to have a hard time pulling himself away from their sections. In the meantime though, there are things to chew on, so he is signing off...

This is so exciting

Shakes has had a great day. He is very excited that so many people looked at his profile...34 in the 1st day, he tells himself this makes him very in demand (always good for the ego). Sadly enough, he faced the dreaded bathtime today though, so a slight damper was put on the good mood. Tomorrow is his birthday. He is really looking forward to all the special treats and celebration.
