GREAT ADVICE!
If a dog was the teacher you would learn stuff like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising..
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout . Run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
And never trust anyone until you have sniffed their butt.

Little did we know that day
God was going to call your name.
In life, we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
Although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken
And nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us, one by one,
The chain will link again.

Hi my sweet boy Rausch, It has been almost a year since you went to the Rainbow Bridge. I wanted to let you know that things aren't the same around here without you. We miss your gentle demeanor and your smile, we miss you coming up and being sweet, we miss the fact that you loved your hooman girl and would bring home stray kittens.
One of those stray cats who loved you so much for bringing him home when he could not fend for himself Chi Chi Bun misses coming in after being out all night and getting and giving a kiss on the head. ( I am unsure whom ever said dogs and cats don't get along never actually had them). I miss you barking at the door when someone was coming and that you would protect me when other dogs came near me when we walked Coco. You were a brave boy, even though at the end you could not see, or walk so well. You were never one to stay behind when we did our nightly walks around the block.
You didn’t complain once when we moved to North Carolina from Florida and had to stay in the cab of the truck all night because you were afraid of that mean Siamese cat Momma, I am sorry that morning that daddy did not gently take you from the cab of the truck instead of making you jump down and hurt yourself. I know you loved living in the country when we did finally make it to our house in North Carolina. I know you enjoyed your first snow frolicking with your hooman sister on that first day you both saw snow.
You were a great dog, and though you didn't play fetch you did make us laugh when you pulled your girl down the street on her bike. You made us proud when those boys came to her bedroom window in the middle of the night and daddy got to run them off. You were a kind and gentle friend.
When we remember you it is still with great fondness, you were silly with that funny grin and waggle butt tail. Your passing to the rainbow bridge still makes daddy cry, he misses you the most. I know that at the bridge you are whole again, your hips don’t hurt and you can hear and see again. We look forward to the day when we are all reunited, I know that you are probably still running away from that mean Siamese cat, but you are kind enough to stand behind her. I hope that you are running and chasing butterflies.
I wait the time when we can all be together again. Until then you are missed and still hold a huge space in our heart.

Today was the hardest day for us, we had to make the decision to take our faithful friend to the vet.
Rausch was a great and faithful friend. He had a hard beginning... here is his story.
In 1995 we got Rausch from a rescue organization in Miami. My husband and I went go get him, there he was this big silly Dalmatian, we weren’t able to take him home that day since he was diagnosed with heartworms and needed to continue his treatment.
My husband's daughter Ashe was away with her mom for summer visitation, we were all excited to see our sweet 8 year old come home and finally have a dog. When she finally came home she saw her big dog and decided that the name Waverly did not suit him and he needed to be called fire or smoke or something that reminded him of his firehouse heritage. Then the name Rausch was given, it is the German word for smoke.
The years flew by, we moved from Miami to offer our daughter a better opportunity in North Carolina, right along for the time of change was our boy Rausch. He was ever vigilant as our daughter grew and as she grew through those hard to deal with teen years of trying to sneak out he remained ever on guard to alert us of anything that could be going wrong.
Rausch was a great companion he will be forever missed in our lives. Be Blessed Rausch and please wait at the Rainbow Bridge for mom.
Your Mom who cries for you still.....
