Arrival Story:
We were looking for a companion for crazy Mojo the Great Dane and providentially, the rescue organisation that had homed Mo with us called and said they had a boy who needed a home. When we got him, McGee was over 65kg - twice the ideal weight of a lab. His previous owners had fed him human food, such as pizza, roast beef and potatoes, etc, instead of dog food, thinking it amusing to have a dog the size of a coffee table - which is pretty much what he looked like! He was such a sweetheart, we had to have him, and Mo was highly excited that she had a friend. The cats, though ...

Bio:
Mr McGee was put to sleep on 25 June 2010, when he collapsed and was unable to walk. He was carried to a soft bed, given a special meal, and was surrounded by people coming to say goodbye and give him lots of love, before it was time for the vet's needle. I miss you and think about you every day, my sweet boy.

When he first got home, McGee took exception to the cats, despite having been reared with cats, bunnies and guinea fowl. After two weeks of being locked inside for safety's sake, the cats escaped, and he went after one - Grumpy Bum, the thuglet. When we got home, we found a very sad and bedraggled lab, who'd been mauled by a cat not even the size of his head, leaving him with a black eye, scratches and a torn ear. Since then he's been deferential to the cats and, oddly (but not surprisingly), he and Grumpy Bum are now firm friends.
