dear family and friends,

I was standing on a hillside
In a field of blowing wheat,
And the spirit of a dog
Was lying at my feet.

He looked at me with kind dark eyes,
Ancient wisdom shining through.
In the essence of his being,
I saw the love there too.

His mind did lock upon my heart
As I stood there on that day,
And he told me of this story
About a place so far away.

As I stood upon that hillside
In a field of blowing wheat,
In a twinkling of a second
His spirit led my feet.

His tale did put my heart at ease,
All my fears did fade away
About what lay ahead of me
On another distant day.

"I live among God's creatures now
In the heavens of your mind,
So do not grieve for me, my friend
As I am with my kind.

My collar is a rainbow's hue,
My leash is a shooting star.
My boundaries are the Milky Way
Where I sparkle from afar.

There are no pens or kennels here
For I am not confined,
But I'm free to roam God's heavens
Among the Doggie kind.

I nap the day on a snowy cloud
Gentle breezes rocking me,
And dream the dreams of earthlings,
And how it used to be.

The trees are full of liver treats,
And tennis balls abound,
And milkbones line the walkways
Just waiting to be found.

There even is a ring set up,
The grass all lush and green;
And everyone who gaits around
Becomes the Best of Breed.

For we're all winners in this place;
We have no faults, you see.
And God passes out those ribbons
To each one, even me.

I drink from waters laced with gold,
My world a beauty to behold;
And wise old dogs do form my pride
To amble at my very side.

At night I sleep in angel's arms,
Her wings protecting me,
And moonbeams dance about us
As stardust falls on thee.

So when your life on earth is spent
And you stand at Heaven's gate,
Have no fear of loneliness--
For here, you know, I wait".

forever yours...bandit

This is the latest sad post in a long line of sadness on my local Freecycle group. Many cities have a freecycle, search for yours by using freecycle, your city & state. I personally believe this is a dangerous way to find homes, but my opinion is not important. What is important is that there are many pets needing homes and many are posted on freecycle's across our country. Please join & recycle usable items as well as receive and re-purpose them AND IF you can, save a life while you are there. The economic realities of our times are that this will not be the last post like this one...

"I have 4 dogs that need loving homes all with fences: Ringo is 4 years old he is an australian shepard and very sweet also very protective of his home is a working dog, Ten is a 2 year old blue tick hound male working as well we have taken him out chasing scents he follows lions very well as his parents are bred to hunt lions as well! Griz is a rescue mutt not sure what she is as we found her she is older but extremely gentle and great with small kids. Ginger is roughly 2 she is a rescue dog as well loves to run and play with kids she will protect all kids though. I hate to let my family go but times have left us with no choice if you are interested you can call me XXX-XXX-XXXX. Thanks for looking"

First, let me than everybuddy who prayed for me when I had pancreatitis in December. Many of you know it was touch and go to see if I'd survive my foray into the trash can for some pork chop fat. Well I made it, thanks to a good vet and many prayers.

As a result of my pancreatitis, I an now a diabetic dog and my diabetes blinded me. There is some hope that the blindness will go away now that I have been diagnosed and am on insulin. So to those who pray, kindly remember me in your prayers. If I don't regain my sight, I'm in the right family. Lady Bird and Sapphire are both blind and mom has done blind dog training & re-homing for years so I'll be OK either way.

I had my first insulin shot tonight. Mom knew how to do it thanks to Bailey from DFWPR so she had the vet show our teenager how and he gave me my first dose of human insulin under the supervision of Doc Emond. He did great, I slept through it! BOL. I have to be rechecked in a week to see if my dose is correct, but I feel better already.

That's all for now, except to say I Wuvs Yew All and am still very worried about my pugpal Jane Bonbon in Japan. I'm praying for yew & yers Jane, I know all of Japan is facing major challenges with clean up and rebuilding.

Wow, what a day. I nebber thought sumpin like dis could happen to me. It started like any other day, I woke up out in da yard to a cold grey day. Later when the sun came out bright, I had a feeling sumpin good wuz gonna happen.

Dese new humanz came in da yard and when I saw dem I just started acting like a silly pup, running and flirtin wif dem. I followed da man all along de fence line, wagging and smiling for no reason 'cept dey made me happy someway.

Dey looked at all of us puggies, specially me and da tiniest black pug gal wif da bad eye. Oh I was sad when dey left, I dont know why, but I wuz.

I moped fur a while and den DEY CAME BACK. WIF A KID!

Next ting I knew, Me and de tiny black gal wuz in dere arms and getting into a car. We drove cross town and parked in a place wif lotsa cars. The wommin and da boy got out and went in a building wif doggies on da front. I wuz afraid da man would leave us too so I jumped up front and gave him a real good baff.

De odders came back wif a big bag and me and da gal got red halters, we never had nutting to wear before. Den dey gave us yummies and we started driving again. A longer ride dis time until we came to dis huge yard wif a barn, garden, house in a hill and no kennels. We stopped dere and we all got out. I marked all da new trees real good and den IT happened. We went INSIDE a house, really inside!

Oh it was all so exciting. Dere wuz odder doggies and an old black puggie all inside da house. Who ever heard of such a thing, doggies inside da warm house, out of da weather! Dere wuz doggie bed in every room and 2 doggie couches! I wanted to stay so I lifted leg everywhere and marked it as mine, but dey didnt appreciate my enthusiasm. The boy gave us each a bowl and fed us the yummiest kibble wif doggie gravy on it. Doggy Gravy! Oh I gotta make dem like me so I can stay here so if you'll excuse me I have to go give da boy a baff...
