Leave a bone for Gizmo, gone never forgotten

Nicknames:
Giz, Gizzy

Quick Bio:
-purebred-blind

Likes:
Wrestling with boxes, taking my blanket and making a nest to sleep in

Pet-Peeves:
Gizmo would get upset when his Mommy cried, did not like anyone hitting someone

Favorite Toy:
Gizmo used to play with a ball in a sock

Favorite Food:
Anything with gravy, potato chips, french fries, pieces of bagel and grapes

Favorite Walk:
With his mommy anywhere

Best Tricks:
Being blind and following a potato chip sliding across the floor to its exact resting place. Another good trick was blindly finding someones foot and placing his ball in a sock on your foot to get you to play tug of war with him.

Arrival Story:
Gizmo was a birthday present from my husband in Nov 1993. He was meant to be a surprise but I came home from work early before he had the chance to pick him up. So, he asked me to go for a ride and wouldn't tell me where we were going. We pulled into the parking lot of the pet shop and when I saw little Gizmo I cried like a baby because I was so happy to have him.

Bio:
Gizmo passed away on 2-5-07. In addition to being blind, Gizmo suffered with a collapsed trachea. We did all that we could for him to keep him comfortable. He did a lot of "hacking" when the trachea collapsed. But on the day he died he could no longer do that and was struggling for breath. We took him to the Vet and realized that we had to let him go to end his suffering. There was nothing else that could be done. It was the hardest thing to do, letting him go. I lost a member of my family, my little baby Giz. I loved him so much but did not want him to hurt anymore. I miss him so much and think of him often.

I haven't been to this page in a few weeks now. I thought I was just about over the feelings. Between the song and remembering the little guy's habits and traits and the last time I held him, it brings it all back, as if it happend yesterday. It's not fair that little guys like this can grab your heart so much, but live such a short time.
