Miss Kimmi Loved People
She Loved to Walk the Fields in Texas
When I talk of Miss Kimmi I talk of Love and Understanding beyond all other. She had the ability to calm the fear in anyone and she was the best for my clients as she would sit and listen with her head up on thier lap as if she undstood every word,
Miss Kimmi was a Brindel Greyhound that was rescued one day with 65 other Greyhounds. She was horribly abused and she was starved, full of parasites, had to live in a create smaller then she was and drank her own urin. We know this as she had urin burns all over her body. When I met Miss Kimmi she was with her create mate Miss Fancy, I was living in San Angelo at the time. She and Miss Kimmy were to be my Foster girls. We worked really hard at getting them well and seeing they had the care they needed. I was soon to learn that my new friends were not to be with me long as the had an adopted home. They were placed with a police officer and his wife. My heart broke to see them go but I knew it was the right thing. Miss Kimmie's eyes never left me till she could no longer see me. ( I did not know at the time we were connected).
I moved back to Morton, Texas and I had often though of them hoping they had a good home and were happy. Two years after I had been in Morton I got a phone call from the girl who placed them she said she got a call from the shelter they had been taken there and left, (She said she went to see if she knew them, she had not reconized and the only thing that let us know was the police wife had left their papers. She was calling to see if I wanted to come get them as she knew we were close. I drove 240 miles in the winter to go get them. When I got there I called them as I always did (Girls) and they came running from the far side of the house and jumped at me so hard they knocked me on the ground. She stood with her mouth flopped open and said I have never seen a Greyhound do that before.
I told them I would be back to get them I had to get some hay for the back of the truck as it was cold, I had a topper for it just needed some warm bedding to keep them ok on the journey home. When I got there they were ready to go and jumped right into the truck.
We got home late and as I gathered them out of the truck they heard the other Bumpkins barking and went right into the yard. They walked around like they had been there all their life. They had never lived at this house.
We then started to do Meet and Greets, they would go with me every where, We did not know at the time we were to loose one. Miss Fancy at 9 years old caught a sickness from a tick, I some how missed it or it got her and fell off. She died a few days after she had been at Doc's. He said Vi she was old and after all she had been through her heart just played out. She had been there in the new place two years. I did not get to say good by to my old friend and I told Kimmi then I would never do that again. That if she went I would no matter what be there with her. Kimmi of course had other plans oh how she grieved for her friend I knew I was going to loose her I just did not know what to do. Email came from all over telling her to carry on cards came. One special letter came for her it was from Kieko in Japan and she had sent her a prayer bag from her country. ( I still have this prayer bag) I finally laid down with her on the bed and said Ol Girl if you must go I will understand, it will brak my heart but I will understnad. But I want you know know one thing it will be through you that Miss Fancy will live on and it will be through the story you both have to tell that she will be with You as you make your journey with out her. I want you to think about how to live on and carry on for Miss Fancy.
Oh she did just that, she told her story, she loved , she shined she was a gift to everyone she met. When I stoped she would lay there beside me waiting for what we were to do next. I lots of times did not have to tell her she just knew!
Miss Kimmi gave it her very best always a 100 percent. She was 11 years old she went to see Cortney ( client) he loved her and would often send 20 home with me to go get her a treat. Kimmi got cancer in was in her mamory glands. Courtney grew a garden and he use to send the squash home with me as Kimmi loved it.
Courtney dies that same year he was 89 she had to suffer another loss in her life. But you Cournty was not that far away from her. The picture you see has her laying in the squash plant that came up on it own from where I do not know. Courtney knew how much she loved that squash. This picture was also taken the day before I helped her to the bridge.
Kimmi at the age of 12 years old had three major surgeries and survied each one. The tumors however would just come back. One day they started bleeding and just would not stop. I had no choice I had to take her in. Doc said there was nothing he could do.
Kimmi is the one who taught me to no matter what leave them at home with me. She was afraid and she was un easy I knew there was nothing I could do to easy her fear. She did not want to be there going through this she wanted to be at home and tried several times to tell me. I should of listen to her and taken her home where we could hold each other tight and our hearts could have done what it needed to do.
Miss Kimmi however being the forgiving soul she was is still with me to this day, I feel her around me when I grow weary about things, and I can feel her close.
Yes even in death this way the bond of Love that we held for each other is still with me to this day. She died in 1997.
