Arrival Story:
One day our neighbor across the street, a mailman, came to the house and asked if we would watch Lily for a week so they could go on vacation. Of course we said yes! The first thing I noticed was Lily's shyness. She immediately ran under the bed, and we had a hard time coaxing her out.
Eventually, she got to know us and I knew right away she was an angel. When our neighbors returned, I teased them that Lily liked us better than them, and that I wanted her to live with us.
A couple of months went by when there was a knock on the door. The kids across the street asked if I was serious about taking Lily. I told them that I was kidding but deep down was happy that they thought of me. They had always given Lily a lot of love, but never maintained her.
Her teeth were a mess and were abscessed. When I took her to the vet, they had to extract 5! Luckily they weren't her chewing teeth.
The funny thing about this dog was when I let her out-I live in a cul-de-sac with no traffic-she ran along the sidewalk, passed her old house and ran right to ours as fast as she could.
Our neighbor said he saw her, called her name, Lily looked at him and ran! She loves us! Or...maybe it's because she gets chicken every night!
