Arrival Story: Saw the owner's ad in the paper, and replied to it. We drove for an hour, saw China and her brother, and we decided to take China. We visited my friend that night in the hospital. Which would mean that China and her 2 new Roomies (BoBo & DeDe) both cats- would be left all alone. We didn't know how this would sail*. We were almost home -when we could hear barking coming from the apartment. Sure enough it was China - already taking her position as the "Keeper of the Castle"
Oh, by the way! ..she was barking at the 2 cats! But, we also understood - she making herself known.
Bio: I love to go visit my Fav. neighbor lady - Joanie. (she gives me treats!)
If she pretends to be asleep when i come over ....i will sit & stare at her - throw in a whine or two.
If this doesn't work?...thatis when i break out with a couple of barks , while still staring. This usually gets her attention!
When i see that my mission has been accomplished ? - i thank her by standing on my hind legs & paw at her. (she Luvs it!) wink* wink*
Now ~ "lets hit that refrigerator, Joanie!" =)
China has contacted canine diabetes, she was diagnosed with this a year and 2 months ago. China now has to have insulin injections twice a day for the rest of her life. I have also started home cooking for her instead of buying name brand dog foods. I struggled with options and decided I would rather Know what my dog is eating rather than rely on someone else to make this decision for me. China now eats a combination of turkey, brown rice, green beans and carrots. She totally loves this! We have to make regular vet visits to have her sugar levels tested to see if the insulin is at an accurate dosage.
Hopefully China will be with us for many years to come. And until China is called to Rainbow Bridge I will continuously try to make her life a happy one!
