Extra Extra!

Wow! Long time since I've had a chance to write on here! But I still enjoy keeping up with my friends' diaries! That MoJo is a wild card! Let me explain my long absence, first Mommy started school again. She is such a nerd. She gets on the computer for hours at a time during the week which of course requires me to guard her because she sure isn't paying attention to the outside world. Sometimes I think she even forgets me....LOL!!! But seriously, that's kept her busy. Then my parents had the audacity to get another dog! That's right, we now have Lola - the unknown Heinz 57. She has Yoda's ears, my green eyes, and is the color of a lion. She was pretty sick at first. Mommy and Daddy got her from some girl who found her eating dirt in a cemetery. She couldn't even get shots her first vet visit because she was too weak ( I think that was a pretty clever plan). So all the doting and attention on HER wasn't really up my alley. She got twice as much food as me!! She smelled funny too. So I didn't let her touch me. If mommy was going to hold her, then I sure wasn't going to join them. I couldn't believe they let her into my bed at night. They didn't even ask me! I was very upset for awhile. Now it's better. She follows me around, licks my ears, and likes sleeping on top of me. I allow it when I think no one is looking. I am still Mama's #1 girl so I guess I can let Lola have seconds. I still have special Mommy time when we go to bed because Lola has to stay up with Daddy - haha!!
As if our family wasn't big enough, Mommy and Daddy decided to add another one to it! I hear this one is a baby girl though. That might not be so bad. I'm a big enough dog to handle two guard duties...

Rough week

This has been a rough week. First it's the anniversary of my cousin Tala disappearing. I still think of her and of Mommy driving everywhere with Mimi looking for her. Thank you Mojo, Jazz, and Austin for my gift.

Then yesterday I had surgery!! My molar broke in two and I had an abscess all last week. I got lots of cheese to take my medicine though. So they had to get the tooth out. Daddy left me at the vet's office which is traitorous and traumatic in itself. They put me under anesthesia and I couldn't walk when I woke up. Mommy stayed home from church to keep me and I could barely get up in the chair to snuggle with her. She lifted me the rest of the night. I feel lots better today. My mouth is still all swollen though.

I think my snowflakes from Jazz and Mojo may bring good luck. It's supposed to snow this Sunday!! I love snow! I'm like a wild banshee in it!

Bad Bread Day

I was a bad girl tonight. Mommy and Daddy left me to go eat with some friends and they didn't load my KongTime up because they were only going to be gone an hour. They left all my kongs on the countertop ready for tomorrow's treats. Well...that's not where they're supposed to go! So I hop up on the counter to see if some mistake had been made. Nope, no treat smell from within....but there was a lovely bread smell coming from...over...here..... hmmmm. Maybe I"ll just investigate this bag thingy instead. This is what Mommy gets out every day to make those peanut butter sandwhiches. No peanut butter on it but still good. I THINK I"LL EAT THE WHOLE BAG!

Well, when Momm and Daddy got home, I knew I was in trouble. I didn't even meet them at the door which was a tip-off. Not to mention the bag left in the floor. I waited for them on my bed, tail tucked, ears back. Then I got spanked with the bag - knew that was coming. Then no supper - guessed that too. Then spent the rest of the evening missing couch time with Mommy while they watched tv. I had to be alone on my bed with bread bag. That was pretty bad. Daddy and Mommy keep arguing about how much kennel time I should have to spend in punishment. Daddy = 1 week, Mommy = 1 day. Apparently getting up on the counter is a whole new dimension that I did not want to visit and should be taught never to visit again. Oh man....

The best thing to happen tonight was all cool rosettes I got from MoJo and Jazz! Thanks guys! I love the fall themes!

The New Job

Sorry for the delayed entry - but I have been entirely busy getting used to my new job. My mom has started leaving me every day for her new job, leaving me, a fresh free-roamer, to guard the house. This is entirely new as when she was in school I had to only entertain myself with Animal Planet while in the kennel. Now I have responsibilities. Now I have free rein. Now I have Doggie Daycare. This beloved machine spits one of my kongs out every hour for me to munch the treats out of until lunch when Mommy comes home and fills it back up again. Usually they place it out of reach up on the mantle but a few times Mommy has left early and given Daddy the job. He forgets :), leaving me a Hors D'Voeure tray on the coffee table for my perusal. Those are good days.

I am very good at my new job. I have had only a couple setbacks into puppyland where the garbage was just too interesting and Animal Planet too boring to occupy me. Of course I am still oh so excited to see them when they come home. Especially if one of my treats got stuck in a Kong. I just insist they get it out for me by constantly and consistently bringing it to them for a good shakedown.

Conquered!

I have done it. I am no longer "The Kennel Dog". I am a free-roamer. All of my mommy's ridiculous hiding outside the window behind that cardboard box has paid off in her eyes. I can be left alone for up to FOUR hours, which is, of course, the magic number. Mommy starts her job (sigh) in 3 weeks and that is the number until lunch time, and that is the number from there until coming home again time. And I have made it. Without destroying anything! A key trick obviously. Daddy was continuously skeptical and worried and doubtful and sure I would get into the pantry. Little does he know I am saving that one up my sleeve. Mommy has conquered. Mommy has won. Mommy will have peace of mind in 3 weeks.

Sad Admissions

I am a kennel dog. Yes, whenever my parents leave the house in I must go. I never balk - I have TV, air - conditioning, endless supplies of old t-shirts to shred, and the milkbone reward always helps. My mommy seems determined to train me to stay outside the kennel when they are gone, to have roam of the house like my aunt Emma and most other house dogs. I am an angel when they are home. But in various training sessions or escape escapades, I have managed to do the following damage in my short 2 1/2 years:
Eat 1/2 pound cake, 4 cupcakes, 10 chocolate covered cherries, and multiple bubble gum pieces in just one session,
Break the glass cake dome holding the 1/2 pound cake
Break the ceramic candy dish holding the 10 chocolate covered cherries and multiple bubble gum pieces
Squirt toothpaste with bleach in it all over the house
Push my food container down the stairs, eat 1/2 to 3/4 of it, and throw up/poop all over basement - TWICE
Display what was in all the trash bins for Mommy and daddy to see
Destroy a 3x2 foot piece of carpet in front of door down to the plywood trying to get to where mommy last was seen
Rip dustbuster mount out of wall and chew wires

Can you say separation anxiety? Recently I've done ok for about 30 minutes. My daddy sat outside on the porch behind a piece of cardboard with a peephole in it so he could watch me while Mommy "left me" alone in the house. I knew what they were doing. So I paced the whole time. Daddy says "see she doesn't enjoy being left outside her kennel". Mommy says I'm just not used to it. I say they should just never leave me.

Jazz the Man tagged me!

Here are the rules:
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged need to post the rules & their 7 pawsome facts in their Diary. Then they choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

Here's my 7 fun facts!

1. I sleep in between my parents making the letter "H" at night
2. My tail is one vertebrae too long and I used to be very self-conscious of it
3. My birthday is 2 days before my dad's.
4. I adore peanut butter sandwhiches
5. I will heel at the dog park with no leash when I see other people coming
6. I have various snorts, sighs, and moans to signal my displeasure, resignation and contentment
7. I still have no idea where those squirrels disappear too when they get near a tree. They just evaporate.

Here's the 7 pups I'm tagging!

MoJo
Austin

Vacation

I am very very happy today. My parent are back home and everything is back to normal. They left me at my grandmother's in Atlanta for a week while they went to Italy? with my other grandparents. Apparently my Papa thought my Mommy's graduation warranted something as monumental as leaving me. So 'Mimi' came and got me to stay with her. I had a good time though. She has a fenced in yard where I can go in and out which is quite a change for me. She also let me sleep in the bed with her just like my parents do. And I raced every day with the neighbor's dog Harley so I worked off every one of those treats grandmothers are prone to give. It is so nice to be back home though. I have slept all day and all night and followed my parents everywhere. I know they won't leave me again for a long time.

Ears in the wind...

It has been a good week for me. Daddy has been pumping me up by telling me he's getting me a jeep to ride in - Mommy can join if she wants to he says. I like the truck we have now but Daddy says it has to go along with his motorcycle if we get a jeep. Mommy doesn't appear too pleased with my future acquisition - she says we need the truck for "Dump Day" and doesn't want to spend any money. I do love Dump Day. So many smells - so little time. And I like getting to ride up front with Mommy and Daddy in the truck...however Daddy keeps bribing me saying I"ll have my own backseat all to myself in the jeep and I can smell the outside the whole time in it. That is tempting. I hate picking Daddy over Mommy but it looks like he's going to win no matter what Mommy says....she is not a very good litigator. I wonder what color my jeep will be...

Snow Day!

This past weekend I had the best time! It finally snowed enough around here to actually do something in it besides track water into the house - although that is kinda fun. Mommy and Daddy took me to my grandparents house where they have a big hill to go sledding on. Wow was I excited! I chased them all the way down, ran back up to visit those left behind and tell them they'd get to go soon, race back down to encourage whoever was walking up the hill to hurry up so we could do it all over again!! Even Mommy went although she hit a big pile of sassy smelling horse poop on the way down. There are some positives to sledding in a pasture besides annoying the horses! I thought she smelled yummy but she didn't seem too pleased. It was wonderful. Even nicer was the day long nap that followed!
