Life with my new brother

It's been an eventful few months to say the least. In April, they brought home my new baby brother Nate. I don't understand why he doesn't look like me and Lolita, and why he doesn't snort. He looks like a tiny version of *them* and he makes strange noises. The crazy thing is that they give him so much attention and he doesn't even know how to chew a Nylabone. What is that all about?

Everyone keeps saying how cute and remarkable Nate is and asking how I'm "handling" it. As if I don't know what they're talking about. To be honest, my feathers aren't ruffled, as long as I continue to get fed. Plus it's another person for me to lick, though they don't like it when I do that.

So I'm going to go climb back under the throw on the couch, my new favorite place. They're talking about me going to the vet for my annual checkup -- I just turned five (without a birthday cake, thank you very much) -- and are saying something about me getting my teeth cleaned for the first time. Um, no.

My Big Adventure Across The Road

Dear Diary,

Wow, I have had an exciting morning. First Mommy and Daddy dressed me up for something called Halloween. They said that I was a lion. All I know is that the costume was hot and made me look silly. Then they took my picture next to a big orange thing called a pumpkin. Whatever.

Well I showed them. While they were carving this "pumpkin," I managed to find a way to sneak out the front door into the wide, beautiful, sunny world! They had no idea I was out there so I did all the things I know I'm not supposed to do. I crossed the road all by myself and wandered two houses down to chat with a friend.

This neighborhood dog says he can stay out all the time. I wish my parents were that cool. We hung out for about 20 minutes until *they* came screaming my name. I thought she was nuts, wearing her pajamas and all covered in orange pumpkin goo. She was standing in the road and very upset, but I hid from her! I was caught though when *he* walked across the street and found me.

When I got back, she had a big box of treats, and hugged my neck and picked me up and said she didn't know what she would do if anything ever happened to me. It's nice to be appreciated like that and maybe now she'll know not to put me in a silly costume.

I am going to take a nap now on my nice soft couch. They don't have couches outside I found, so I'll stay in from now on.

Fondly,

F. Scott Fitzadventurepug

Summer Fun 2005

Dear Diary,

Ah, the summer months. Running through the backyard with Lola, playing under the bed where it is nice and cool, enjoying the fact that our friendly doggie psychologist says that I am completely normal and happy. Phew!

My regular vet thought that I might be depressed, but after just minutes on the couch I was deemed mentally healthy. (They said that my owners were a little neurotic though. Surprise surprise.)

I've just posted a picture of myself from the Alabama Pug Fest a few months ago. It was a great day for a great organization. I wanted to bring home another brother or sister but wasn't allowed. Then again, I don't need any more competition for food, you know what I am saying?

*She* put me in that silly blue collar by the way. But I still look hot, no?
