   Leave a bone for Vicki

Nicknames:
Vicks, Gandalf (don't ask me why...)

Quick Bio:
-purebred

Likes:
Strangely enuf, Vicki REALLY enjoyed his warm baths, and then being towelled dry after! He liked getting into fights with BIG dogs!

Pet-Peeves:
My ex-neighbours who ran him over and broke his leg... cars, getting hair trimmed, blowdryers.

Favorite Toy:
Prince

Favorite Food:
Rice and liver and beans (which explains the flatulence!)

Favorite Walk:
Vicki's bad leg hindered his ability to go for looong walks... but he enjoyed the short ones all the same (especially those by the beach!)

Best Tricks:
farting! (who knew dogs could!)

Arrival Story:
Vicki came to our home on his own accord... he didn't have a collar on at that time. He wandered outside our gates for days and refused to leave. My dad brought him around the neighbourhood to ask if anyone had lost their dog... and I'm glad to say that no one laid claim to him! He came to live with us after, but we always left the gates open in case he wanted to go back to his old home... he never left! =) He would wander to my neighbour's garden but he always came home... one day, he came home limping and whimpering, so we brought him to the vet and realized that he had fractured his left paw at numerous places... the vets couldn't really set it back in place properly so he ended up limping for the rest of his doggie years! =( A week or two after the incident, my neighbours-at-that-time confessed to us that she had ran poor Vicki over while backing out in her car! How mean is that - she didn't take him to the vet right away or at least have the integrity to tell us what happened immediately... Is that a Hit and Run or what??! Anyways, the good thing is Vicki came to live with us permanently after and fitted right into the family...

Bio:
Vicki's visits to the vet were definitely a record-high! Not long after setting his broken paw, he had to have surgery to have gall-stones removed as well! And then treatment for an ear infection, fleas, (I have a feeling his previous owner pretty much ill-treated him!), teeth scaling, neutering (he and Joyce, the poodle, were definitely busy!) Then he had to get into fights with BIG dogs... once he actually started a fight with a neighbour's (another neighbour) Alsatian... had to take him to the vet for his scratches and minimal injuries! But despite his aggressive nature, Vicki was super sweet and was constantly providing us with abundant love and protection! He was good natured and amiable when it came to the people he loved... He was a feisty, dare-devilish, aggressive dog, and it was really sad to see him grow REALLY old... we didn't have the heart to put him to sleep, but yet it was really sad to see him suffer with old age (rheumatism, eye-cataracts, deafness etc...) He passed away peacefully on May 31st 2002... his heart just stopped after a brief stroke... i'm glad he no longer suffers. But we all miss him dearly!
