 Quick Bio:
Likes: Belly rubs, giving kisses, snoozing, making new friends, Mommy, Daddy, the Grandmummy, the Granddaddy, Aunt Laura, mealtime, the dog park, stealing kisses from Milo, wanton distruction, chewing on Monty, bein' evil

Pet-Peeves: Ida is deeply concerned about the growing panther menace

Favorite Toy: Ida likes Sad Bear, Who Has No Ears, as well as her West Paw bison ("Fred")

Favorite Food: First Mate Pacific Ocean Fish Formula

Favorite Walk: To the house of the Grandmummy and the Granddaddy

Best Tricks: "Sit," for now. Also she has a magical ability to make Mommy late; we think it has something to do with the irresistable pull of The Belleh, Which Must Be Rubbed.

Arrival Story: On Saturday, February 3 2006, we got a call from -- link removed -- asking for help with a puppy, a Basenji mix puppy in south Texas in urgent need of a home. The puppy, estimated to be somewhere between six and ten months old, was at -- link removed -- and was scheduled to be euthanized that coming Tuesday.
My husband and I agreed to drive down the next day and adopt her even though we already had Monty and Livy and a foster dog. (We're fools but it was so completely worth it.)
On Sunday the fourth we made the four-and-a-half-hour drive down to Ingleside from Houston. It was love at first sight when this princess bounded out to greet us as if to say, "Well? Where have you guys been? I'm ready to go home now." Ida was calm and cheerful on the long drive back to her new home and charmed the vet the next day when we took her for her shots.
She was a very good sport in November 2011 when the whole pack (plus us humans) moved from Houston back to my home state of Washington. Now she basks in love from her "grandparents" and "aunt" as well as the two saps who adopted her four years ago.

Bio: Ida would like to thank B.R.A.T., Last Chance, and the angels who did so much to get her into our home: Lorena at Last Chance (who came in on a Sunday to make sure we could get our girl) and Bunmi, Rascal, Spinner, and Chica Bella's mom who came to visit this Precious puppy when she was still at Last Chance (and who then called us up to tell us what a treasure was waiting for us down south.) Thanks, guys!

...which means Mom actually takes us to the bark park again, since there's less danger of everyone's skin melting off in the horrible Houston heat. We just got back from a good romp around Danny Jackson. I made some friends and got to ruuun and run and run like I don't usually get to do when we're cooped up inside. Monty stretched out and ran like the wind--maybe he's right when he brags about being the world's fastest dog.
Last week Monty and I hung out at a special hotel just for dogs and cats--Livy got to go stay with Gran'ma and Gran'pa D. It was okay I guess but I would've liked to go with Mommy and Daddy because they were visiting Mommy's mommy and daddy and I've never met those guys before. Mom even got to hang out with Uncle Milo and she said I'd be a good playmate for him. She said the bark park where Grandma M takes Milo is really wild compared to ours down here in Texas: ours are manicured and landscaped and open...Uncle Milo's park is full of brambles and tall grass and other fun stuff. I really hope we all get to visit Grandma and Grandpa M soon!

We're so happy--Mom just made an appointment with the nice vet and we're gonna go get our heartworm stuff (yum) AND we're gonna get some flea preventative. Mom and Dad have been really worried--me and Livy are getting eaten alive and that's so not okay. So on Monday Mom and Dad will celebrate their anniversary by taking us little dogs up to the nice vet and getting us all taken care of. Hooray!

...but Mom and Dad still aren't unpacked even though we've been here almost a month. (What lazy jerks--I mean, really.) ALSO we haven't been to the close-by dog park yet. WHATEVER. Mom promised that when they have more money they'll splurge on some fancy treats and accessories at the dog boutique in the mall where they work. THEY'D BETTER.
