Hub found an ad in the Pennysaver, first litter of a breeder (I guess a new backyard breeder) no papers so she was only $500. Voila - great dane puppy. Came home at 4 months old. She had bonded strongest with mommy. (*grin*) Bio: I have learned a lot and grown a lot since I brought Onyx home. I will NEVER buy from a breeder (not just *any* breeder and definitely not a backyard breeder which is where Onyx came from) or a pet store EVER again.
Onyx is a sweetheart and I do not regret bringing her home. :-D
Onyx is a sweetheart - she's a big lug-of-a-lover! However, she is hesitant with stranges sometimes and certain kids. If she's approached with dominace/excitement and a hand out over her head she will back away from you. If you approach her calmly and at her level and reach for her from under her chin, she is fine and she'll love you, love you, love you. She likes to lean against you, I've heard it's a trait of the breed. She also likes to stop right in front of you when you're walking. She loves to poke her sister Anna with her nose - it gets suck a *rise* out of Anna and the madder Anna becomes the more Onyx enjoys it!
I expected a Great Dane to be a very calm dog. Onyx is very playful and loves to run around at the park and romp in waves at the dog beach. She loves to be chased and chase other dogs! I guess that's how she keeps that *hot bod*!!!
