Last night Gretchen passed away. We had taken her to the U of MN earlier in the day because she couldn't stand on her own and was throwing up. At the U they diagnosed her as being in an early phase of kidney failure. The doctor also believes her body was attacking her platelets. When we called to check up on her around 6:30pm we were told she had stabilized and things were looking good. Then around 7:30pm we received a call from her doctor telling us she most likely wasn't going to make it through the night. We went back down to the U of MN to visit her one last time. We left there at about 9:15pm and at 10:30pm she passed away. She will be missed greatly.

Gretchen is in ICU at the U right now and her doctor is not expecting her to make it through the night. We just got back from visiting with her for what is to be our last time.

News

Last week the vets at the U of MN told us to only expect Gretchen to live for another month or so. As a last ditch effort on our part and the doctors part, we were suggested to go forward with radiation and only do chemotherapy two weeks after radiation instead of the every other week schedule she had been on so that her last few months left here were not in pain due to the rapidly progressing MCT's.
