What the Hock!!!

So x-rays showed inflammation and arthritis in the hock area. I am on an anti-inflammitory and I am supposed to rest. The vet says that area supports a lot of the body weight and is always moving so it wouldn't take too much to cause an issue when it is already an arthritic joint. I must of sprang when I should have sprung.

When the vet compared the x-rays to my right side she noticed that it also shows signs of arthritis. The vet says the medication will help and I should feel better soon.

Long term though, mom is leaning towards adequan and once this injury is taken care of she hopes to start me on it come spring. She said it worked wonders for Sandi, who also had severe arthritis.

Chester (still springing even when I am not supposed to)

Heading to the vets

I'm heading to the vet and mom is really hoping the news isn't too serious. Late last week I started limping. I am walking better but still not putting full weight on my rear left leg so mom decided it is better to be safe than sorry.

We're off to see the wizard, oops, wrong show, we're off to see the vet. So help me, if they try to keep me down, I will protest. Springers spring.....springers do NOT rest!

Wish me luck

Happy Birthday to me! 11 today, what a great day! I was undecided on where to go for my dinner but I picked Dairy Queen so I could get ice cream, too. :0) I'll be heading out in just a bit and the best part is that there will be no siblings with me! It's all for me and all my day!

Thanks for all my pressies and birthday greetings. I really appreciate them. I'm starting to slow down but mom says I look pretty darned good for my age. I LOVE birthdays.

Love you all,

Almost 11, oh my.

Wowzers! I can barely pawlieve I am almost 11. Thursday is my Gotcha/Birthday and I just know there is fast food in my future. Once a year on this very special day I get DQ, Micky D's, or Arbys. I am so confused that I don't even know which to pick this year. I'll think about it and give my order to mom tomorrow.

I'm a decade old today! Hmmmmmm, I suppose it makes me kind of old, nah. BOL

So I hear through the grapevine, and this is a very reliable source, that when Dragon goes to the vet, they will be stopping at Arbys to bring me home a birthday roast beef sandwich! I can hardly wait for that yummy delicious sandwich. There is an Arbys located right by the vet's office so I guess that makes it my lucky day! Yum Yum! Won't be long now.

Doing the springer woo woo!! WOO WOO just in case you didn't hear me the first time!!

Chester the 10 year old springer

By the way - Thanks for all the birthday wishes and pressies!

I have to say, whatever was in that shot at the vet's office really helped the swelling in my eye. Within hours it looks loads better and now basically all the swelling is gone! The wound on the outside is healing and we hope the inside of the eyelid is healing correctly. I am still getting eye drops 3-4 times a day and mom says I am the perfect patient! She doesn't realize I just really want that delicious treat afterward. So far so good so thank you all for the power of the paw.

By the way, we are so glad to be home now.

This is the thanks I get?

I'm here at Grandma's house, just trying to help her recouperate from her knee surgery and what thanks do you think I get? Well, I'll tell you - a big fat swollen eye is what I got! Grandma's dogs were so excited to see her after she got home from the hospital that they decided to fight each other over her. When I went to check out the commotion, Sunny turned and bit my eye. It got all swollen and mom rushed me to the vet. I'm very lucky because the puncture missed the eye itself and only tore the lower eyelid. I was given a shot for pain and swelling and I have some eye drops to to be given throughout the day. I also have to have my eye iced for swelling (not a fan of these icing treatments). The vet feels as long as the wounds inside the lid heal without scabbing or scarring, the eye should be just fine. So, I sure hope it heals well. I have an opthamologist for my cataract, but I am hoping I won' have to see him for any follow-up treatments for this. My wounded eye is actually my good eye so wish me luck :(

Anyway, that is my Indiana adventure so far, I think I will let the little dogs go next time. Hrumpf, to think I thought this would be fun.
